DEWA signs MoU with Dubai Smart Government during GITEX 2015

Dubai MENA Herald : HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HE Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai Smart Government (DSG), during DEWA’s participation at GITEX 2015. The MoU supports the Smart Government initiative to enhance the level of services provided for customers, and to make Dubai the world’s smartest city.

The MoU supports and will further develop the existing strategic mutual partnership, exchange of information and skills, to achieve an integrated strategic partnership with all government organisations in the UAE and Dubai in particular. DSG will support DEWA’s services, especially in information exchange, communications and e-payment services, as well as monitor support service levels including procedures of sending requests for services, and responding to both sent and resolved requests as well as procedures for monitoring Key Performance Indicators, solving problems and enhancing efficiency.

“We signed this MoU to further implement the Smart Government goals announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to consolidate the leadership of the UAE in its smart transformation and keep up with international best practices, by providing government services to scustomers on smart phones. This way, customers can submit requests to government on mobile phones, and follow-up on the request at any time. At DEWA, we work to improve government services to the highest international standards, through quality digital services offered to customers,” said Al Tayer.

“DEWA’s efforts are integrated with other institutions and government agencies in Dubai, as it has adopted a clear strategy for smart transformation since 2009. Since then, DEWA launched a number of smart initiatives that reflects its readiness to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world, by making its services 100% smart, according to a clear strategy and keeping pace with the latest technology and developments in smart transformation,” added Al Tayer.

“At DEWA, we work to develop our services on an ongoing basis in accordance with the highest international standards to meet our customers’ needs, to achieve an integrated strategy and the wider Government of Dubai’s strategy to achieve sustainable development in customer service and enhance the happiness of our citizens, residents and all stakeholders, to encourage customers to adopt smart services,” added Al Tayer.

To encourage the adoption of smart services, DEWA is offering customers the chance to win daily prizes during GITEX. Customers who have used selected smart services including bill payment, move-in, and pay for friend services using DEWA’s smart app or website (www.dewa.gov.ae) on their smart devices, qualify for the raffle draw.

DEWA is one of the first government organisations to launch its smart services and once of the first to develop an app for smart phones and smart devices to enquire about bills and e-payment. All DEWA’s services are available through its app, which supports iOS and Android. It can also be used on other platforms, such as BlackBerry, Windows, Windows Phone, smart watches, Samsung home applications and Etisalat’s eLife.
