Sharjah aims to attract more visitors from Europe as World Travel Market 2015 begins today

Sharjah - MENA Herald: Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) kicks off its participation in the World Travel Market for the 13th consecutive year, on the 36th anniversary of the leading global event for the travel industry begins in London today. During the WTM 2015, which runs until November 5, the SCTDA will promote Sharjah’s distinct tourism and cultural identity and promote its diverse tourism products to attract more visitors from Europe.      

The SCTDA delegation to the WTM includes representatives from Sharjah Airport Authority, Shurooq, EPAA, Sharjah Museums, Sharjah Healthcare Authority, Sheraton Sharjah, Ramada, Al Shaab Village, Hotel Holiday International, Marbella Resort, Oceanic Hotel, Copthorne Hotel, and Sharjah Airport Travel Agency.

Sharjah’s participation in the WTM this year is particularly important in view of its renewed focus on tourism with the launch of the Sharjah Tourism Vision 2021, which aims to attract 10 million tourists to the emirate by 2021. Sharjah has also made its mark this year as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2015, awarded by the Arab Tourism Organisation.  

At the state-of-the-art Sharjah pavilion at the WTM, SCTDA will showcase its latest smart services and applications launched during the current year, most notably the ‘Sharjah’ Mobile App which was announced during the GITEX Technology Week 2015 in Dubai last month.

Visitors to the pavilion will also be introduced to the Authority’s ‘Sharjah Perfect Days’ app, ‘Sharjah My Destination’ tourism portal, the new virtual reality gallery experience, and the Interactive Touchscreens offered at hotel facilities and prominent tourist attractions in the emirate to provide visitors with detailed information about tourism facilities and attractions in Sharjah.

SCTDA is dedicated to raising local, regional and international awareness of the excellent tourism products and services in Sharjah. As a result of this hard work the emirate has achieved a distinct position as one of the best holiday destinations, especially for tourists from Europe and Gulf countries.

The World Travel Market is one of most significant events for the global tourism and travel industry, attracting each year more than 50,000 exhibitors from all over the world. It also brings together decision-makers and experts in the hospitality, travel and hotel sectors, with the participation of media representatives from across the globe.
