Abu Dhabi – MENA Herald: The UAE capital is set to welcome thousands of oil and gas professionals, industry leaders, and decision makers tomorrow to one of the world’s most prominent energy events, the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).

Held under the theme “Innovation and Sustainability in a New Energy World”, ADIPEC 2015 marks its 18th edition by breaking its previous records with the largest event to date, bringing together 2,000 exhibiting companies, including the world’s leading national and international companies, 600 speakers, 7,000 delegates, and 85,000 attendees from more than 120 countries.

The first day of the landmark oil and gas exhibition and conference, which is hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and organised by dmg events, will kick-off with the Official Opening Ceremony, followed by a Keynote Address by the world’s leading authority on energy, Dr Daniel Yergin, who will share his insights on the transforming energy landscape.

Billed as the premier speaking platform for the Middle East and North Africa, the ADIPEC Conference Programme will invite government decision makers to the stage tomorrow in a Ministerial Panel Session that will focus on driving innovation through investments in research and development, and stakeholder collaboration.

Speakers include H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy, H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas for the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for the Arab Republic of Egypt, and H.E. Etienne D. Ngoubou, Minister of Petroleum and Hydrocarbons for the Gabonese Republic.

Day one will also feature the first of two CEO Plenary Sessions that will highlight the important roles of innovation and leadership in advancing the energy sector. Speakers driving the discussion include Mr. Abdul Munim Saif Al Kindy, Chief Executive Officer of the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations Ltd., (ADCO), Hirobumi Kawano, President of the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEG), Lars Christian Bacher, Executive Vice President of STATOIL, and Bill White, CEO of Lazard and former Mayor of Houston.

Closing the first day, the annual ADIPEC Awards will announce the 2015 winners of the prestigious accolades during a Gala Dinner and Ceremony at the Emirates Palace. The distinguished awards recognise individuals, companies, and projects that demonstrate excellence, best practice, and innovation in energy from around the globe.

The record-breaking ADIPEC 2015 Technical Conference, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), will deliver almost 600 technical presentations in more than eight discipline categories, organised across 79 technical sessions throughout the event.  

The exclusive VIP Programme, dedicated to members of the Middle East Petroleum Club, will provide a fresh outlook to the business world with lessons from ‘The World’s Greatest Living Explorer’, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and insights from social engagement and future business thought-leader, Jon Duschinsky.
