Dubai - MENA Herald: Raising national competencies to develop future technology in aviation industry is a top priority for the sector, said Adel Al Redha, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Emirates Airline and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Foundation for the Museum of the Future.

Al Redha said the UAE’s aviation sector has managed to gain a competitive advantage at the global level over the past few years by employing modern technologies and relying on the best talents to create a new era of excellence and prosperity.

Attributing the development of the aviation sector to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to make the UAE one of the leading countries in this field, Al Redha noted that the sector has become a key contributor to the growth of the UAE’s diversified economy.

Al Redha stated this on the sidelines of the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation and GE to build efficiencies in the aviation sector and lead the next generation of research in aviation industry technology, which is crucial for the development of this sector.

“Our relationship with GE represents a global partnership with one of the oldest and largest companies engaged in diversified areas and a leader in innovation in future technologies. This agreement embodies the vision of the leadership to create major influencers and contributors in the UAE to the ongoing technological development process rather than just consumers of modern technology, driven by a futuristic outlook and an environment to turn ideas into realities for the benefit of the aviation industry at the regional and global level,” Al Redha said.

Al Redha explained that the partnership with one of the leading technology companies in the world will help build national competencies in vital areas such as aircraft industry, which has become one of the fastest growing sectors  with significant impact on global economic development. The partnership will provide an opportunity to benefit from the expertise and international best practices in this area, and engage in practical experiences in one of the largest specialized laboratories in aircraft industry, Al Redha added.

The MoU was signed by Al Redha and David Joyce, President and Chief Executive Officer for GE Aviation.

Commenting on the MoU, Al Redha said: “This initiative comes as part of the efforts of Dubai Foundation for the Museum of the Future to employ modern technology to develop the sectors most closely connected with people’s lives.”

David Joyce described the partnership between GE and Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation as an important step towards creating the next generation of services by optimum employment of modern technologies. Joyce stated that the agreement offers an opportunity for constructive cooperation between GE and various institutions in the UAE to exchange knowledge and experiences.

On the occasion, Saif Al Aleeli, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation, said the MoU is aimed at implementing research projects to contribute to the development of future aviation technology. It will also help promote joint action on specialized projects in industrial internet and automation, offering training for UAE cadres in GE’s research and development labs to raise national competencies in this area, Al Aleeli said.

Al Aleeli pointed out that the agreement highlights the position of Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation as a research and scientific entity that provides accurate and in-depth research to identify current needs and develop technologies according to the future requirements of people.
