Abu Dhabi - MENA Herald: Some of the UK’s leading medical practitioners will be in Abu Dhabi this weekend at Imperial College London Diabetes Centre’s (ICLDC) Advanced Medicine Congress to discuss the latest trends and developments in rheumatology, respiratory, gastroenterology, cardiology and infectious diseases.

Part of the ICLDC Education Series, the first Advanced Medicine Congress is held in partnership with the UK’s Royal Colleges of Physicians (RCP) and will be looking at advances in medical practice over the two-day interactive programme at the Holiday Inn, Abu Dhabi, November 20-21.

According to Professor Karim Meeran, Chairman of ICLDC’s Medical Board, the congress is designed to provide general and specialist physicians of all experience levels the opportunity to engage in leading-edge conversations around advances in clinical practice through workshops, forums and case study presentations.

“The collaboration between Imperial College London Diabetes Centre and Royal Colleges of Physicians makes this a unique, timely event. It will provide the highest levels of expertise drawn from the UK and the UAE vital for doctors in the region to keep abreast with the latest medicine and practice,” he said.

Professor Karim confirmed that while the programme is based on the RCP’s UK equivalent to ensure regional relevance it will spotlight topics such as Ebola, Hepatitis B & C, as well as iron deficiency anaemia, all prevalent in the Gulf.

The UK’s Royal College of Physicians is a professional body of doctors working to improve the practice of medicine, in partnership with health organisations such as Imperial College London Diabetes Centre.
