Dubai – MENA Herald: The UAE Ministry of Health has reported that it has observed the proliferation of information on ‘Cocina Herb,’ a drug which is purportedly effective in treating diabetes and other diseases related to the pancreas, kidneys and joints. It has announced that information being circulated about the drug is incorrect and invalid.

H.E. Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health’s Public Health Policy and Licensing Department, said that the herbal named Cocina Herb is not a substitute medication for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics. The claims on various social media channels are incorrect and do not have any scientific basis, and the Ministry has not approved the drug. He noted that Cocina Herb’s ingredients are derived from a natural plant grown in Bengal and most parts of India as well as in South Asia and the West Indies. The capsules contain Indian Cucumber with vitamin D, and its registered in the Ministry of Health and the state of the capsules Emirates for several years.

The reasons for approval by the UAE Ministry of Health are as follows:

  • Herbal for diabetes disease
  • Studies have shown its natural ability to regulate and control the level of blood sugar; however it is not an effective treatment as it the basic chemical medicine
  • This preparation can be purchased only with a prescription from a physician
  • This product should be used a supportive therapy with a prescription from the and  under the supervision of a doctor
  • Registered by the UAE Ministry of Health as a herbal medicine derived from natural sources
  • This product is used through the teachings of complementary medicine called Baleirovaidik, which has spread from India to other parts of the world as a form of complementary medicine

Appeal to the Public

  • Do not pay attention to false claims because of high risk to patients with insulin-dependent Type I diabetes
  • Do not re-publish any such medical claims in the future unless they are from reliable sources such as the Ministry of Health or local health authorities in the UAE
