Khalaf Al Habtoor Holds Talks with French Consul-General to Dubai

Dubai – MENA Herald : Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, welcomed the French Consul-General to Dubai, His Excellency Majdi Abed at his office on Al Wasl Road on Sunday, December 20, 2015. HE Abed was accompanies by Mohamed Bendjebbour, Regional Audiovisual Attaché, Khaleej French Film & TV Office. Also present was Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman and CEO, Al Habtoor Group.

Discussed film scholarship programme at Fémis, one of France’s top film schools

His Excellency Majdi Abed called on Al Habtoor to discuss the Emirati student scholarship programme at La Fémis, one of France’s top film-making schools. Endorsing the initiative was Mohamed Bendjebbour, Regional Audiovisual Attaché at the French embassy.

His Excellency Abed said the five-week course “is not only educational but also a cultural experience for future film-makers, whereby each participant produces a short five minute film as his or her final project.”

Al Habtoor said, “I support programmes such as these that encourage Emirati students into sectors that help develop the talent of our youth and benefit our economy.  The film market in the UAE is developing fast, and helping put the country on the world map in the entertainment sector.”

He added, “It would be good to gauge the local interest in the programme. I would like to encourage young Emiratis to apply via the French Embassy.”

Al Habtoor and the French Consul-General to Dubai also discussed opportunities for collaborating with French scriptwriters and filmmakers on future projects.
