DEWA signs MoU with the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA), to enhance cooperation and teamwork between both parties, and allow further exchange of knowledge in the disaster management field.

The MoU was signed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and HE Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Hosani, Director General of NCEMA, in the presence of NCEMA officials including Nasser Mohammad Al Yammahi, Director of Media and Mass Communication Department, Khalifa Abdullah Al Alili, Director of National Coordination and Response Office in Dubai, Ali Salim bin Kenaid Al Falasi, Director of Support Services,  Hashem Mohammed Al Hashemi, Head of Director General office, and Yousef Al Shareh, Director of Public Relations and Media in Dubai Centre.

DEWA officials included Hussain Lootah, EVP of Transmission Power, Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, EVP of Business Support and Human Resources, Khawla Al Mehairi, VP of Marketing & Corporate Communications, Moza Al Akraf, CIO of DEWA, and a group of senior managers.

“With the signing of this this MoU, between DEWA and NCEMA, we seek to continue our efforts towards achieving the directives of our wise leadership, by providing high living standards, and by making the UAE a global provider of world renowned services, to the benefit of citizens and residents. This falls   in line with DEWA’s strategic risk management plans, to improve risk management preparations, and to identify roles and responsibilities in case an emergency were to occur, and to reinforce Dubai’s status as a cosmopolitan city.

DEWA cooperates with various government organisations and departments to coordinate, and unify efforts, to make preparations, should any kind of emergency occur, while focusing on the strategic importance of electricity and water,” said HE Al Tayer after signing the MoU.

The MoU will allow the exchange of resources, skills, and knowledge between both parties. It will also allow both parties to be up-to-date regarding the latest crisis and emergency systems, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

HE Al Tayer praised the NCEMA’s role in managing and coordinating the roles of related parties with in the UAE, to unify efforts and to achieve mutual goals that ultimately serve the public.

HE Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Hosani said: “DEWA is committed to serving the community through its leadership in energy efficiency. The collective efforts call for cooperation to develop national emergency, crisis and disaster procedures. He commended DEWA’s contribution to social, economic and environmental development in Dubai, by providing a continuous supply of electricity and water, adhering to the highest levels of reliability, efficiency and safety.

“The signing of this MoU is in line with our continuous efforts to achieve the NCEMA’s mission to further fuel the UAE’s ability to face and manage crises,’ emergencies, and disasters, to determine business continuity requirements during these incidents, and to recover via the means of coordinated preparation, by using all available skills, and communication tools, at federal, and local levels, to save people, and their properties,” said HE Dr. Al Hosani.
