Dubai – MENA Herald: Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) has collaborated with Dubai Cable Company (Ducab) to roll-out an initiative called ‘Gift of Light’ which encourages goodwill among the community with the purpose of bringing a smile to the faces of orphans.

As a part of this initiative, a dedicated website has been set up – www.ducabgiftoflight.com. Visitors to the page are invited to leave a positive message that helps light up a child’s day. For every message posted on the page, Ducab will donate US$1 to the orphans under AMAF’s care.

Commenting on the initiative, His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, said: “Our collaboration with Ducab represents a true partnership between government entities in Dubai and the private sector companies. These initiatives serve the local community and reflect the humanitarian vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”

He added: “I would like to commend Ducab’s proactive efforts in helping the needy and giving back to the community as a part of its distinctive social responsibility mandate. I invite the community to visit the website in large numbers and contribute a few positive words in support of our orphans”.

For his part, Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mutawa, Chief Commercial Officer, Ducab, said: “Ducab’s humanitarian strategy is based on the UAE leadership’s vision for government and private sector companies to actively participate in the sustainable development of the UAE society. With this priority in mind, we are fully committed to supporting our local communities across all tiers. Our latest collaboration with Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundation to launch this joint initiative is an important extension of Ducab’s social responsibility mandate.”

The Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundation seeks to provide a stable and enabling environment to minors as directed by the UAE leadership. The Foundation seeks partnerships with government entities and community stakeholders to launch initiatives that contribute to the care of minors, and help them integrate into society as productive members of their communities.

The Foundation provides assistance for the residential, educational and medical support of these children until the age of 21. In compliance with international best practices and governance guidelines based on Shari’a principles, AMAF enjoys a high degree of credibility and trust among the local and international humanitarian community.
