Dubai – MENA Herald: Meraas, a Dubai-based holding company, has announced the launch of The Green Planet, the region’s first bio-dome that recreates the enchanting world of a tropical forest with its rich biodiversity of over 3,000 plants and animals. The enclosed ecosystem, located at CITY WALK, will offer visitors an immersive expedition into the tropics, inviting them to delve deeper into the secrets of nature and experience first-hand the magnificence of one of the world’s oldest living ecosystems.
Scheduled to open in the first half of 2016, The Green Planet is set to inspire people of all ages and nationalities to learn about and care more for every single plant and animal that inhabits the earth.
Within The Green Planet, a majestic green canopy will cover the lush tropical vegetation, recreating the natural habitat of an abundance of species and giving visitors striking glimpses into the beauty of another world. The bio-dome will seamlessly integrate exhibitions and displays that encourage visitors to explore the inner workings of the ecosystem. The building also includes a giant 25-metre tree, which is the largest indoor man-made and life-sustaining tree in the world.
Visitors to The Green Planet will enjoy a journey of exploration and enlightenment that creates lasting memories. The highly personalised encounters with plants and animals will motivate children to learn fascinating facts, while at the same time instilling respect for the intricacy and fragility of the environment.
Designed to embrace principles of sustainability, The Green Planet’s building has received the global LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification and is fully compliant with the Dubai Municipality Green Building Regulations and Specifications.
The Green Planet is an unparalleled offering which will appeal to nature lovers and explorers of all ages while providing educational insights on the delicate balance of nature on Planet Earth. It is built around the desire to contribute to environmental consciousness in the region. As part of this priority, The Green Planet will aim to not only impress visitors with a novel green oasis in the city, but at the same time ensure that they enjoy an up-close educational and fun experience.
As the first bio-dome of its kind in the region, The Green Planet is set to become a must-visit attraction for residents and tourists alike.
The Green Planet will add to Meraas Leisure & Entertainment division’s current offering encompassing The Dome Box, the region’s first 360-degree dome theatre at BOXPARK, Splash Pad, a wet play area for children at THE BEACH opposite JBR, and Reel Cinemas THE BEACH.
