Unique DSF activation ‘Disney’s Sparkling Frozen Forest’ opens at CITY WALK

Thursday 21 January 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: Ever since it was launched in 1996, Dubai Shopping Festival has always conceptualised events in collaboration with its strategic partners for the benefit of families from around the world with the aim of making it an unforgettable festival that offers not just the best in shopping but also winnings and entertainment.

This DSF is no different with the organisers, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), rolling out a line-up of exciting and extraordinary family-friendly attractions.

On Wednesday, 20 January, local media and their families, as well as journalists from international media had the opportunity to experience one of the unique activations of DSF 2016 - ‘Disney’s Sparkling Frozen Forest’, based on Disney’s globally acclaimed animated film, “Frozen”, and which is taking place at the family-friendly courtyard at CITY WALK, a dynamic outdoor destination by Meraas, a strategic partner of DFRE.

The immersive experience, which opened its doors to the public on Thursday 21 January, offered an unforgettable evening for media personnel and their families, with Nar Restaurant making the evening extra special by offering an assortment of food and beverage.

Children and parents alike can take advantage of using their imagination when unleashing the magic within at Disney’s Sparkling ‘Frozen’ Forest. The minute the families enter the iconic entrance archway made of frozen fractals, they are in for a sparkling and wintry experience. Parents can expect their children to get immersed in the forest trail that is marked by snow-laden pine trees, overhead icicles as the fairy lights set the forest aglow. Character standees of sisters Elsa and Ana, ice-harvester Kristoff, Sven the reindeer and Olaf the snowman wait for the children across the forest trail. The children can make it a game to find all the characters before sitting on the ice blocks that have been carved out just for them.

The Elsa gown may be a vital wardrobe piece for the girls these days. However, when they visit the forest, they can actually embody the ‘Elsa’ character by standing on the Ice Castle Balcony and singing ‘Let it Go’ to the Ice Castle Karaoke. This is the ideal place for them to unwrap the musical voices that may be caged within.

Children may choose to voice themselves differently, that is by screaming in glee as they witness the magical snowfall on the Snow Playground. While it is the winter season in Dubai, seeing snow in CITY WALK’s Winter Wonderland is bound to leave the children in absolute rapture. This adds to the magical touch of wanting to be part of the whole experience where they exchange sand for snow and throw snowballs at each other. Stuffed mini-snowmen toys are great fun as children use them as bowling skittles. Children can take their imagination to a whole new level by stamping their foot like Elsa does in the film in order to create their own imaginary icy floors. Or they can choose to colour away at the corner of the forest trail and create masks that they can either wear or take home with them.

Special activations at this event include Ice Castle Karaoke & Ice Castle Balcony; The Snow Playground featuring magical snow-fall; Immersive Forest Trail; Snow glazed Pine Trees; White and Blue Festooned Fairy lights; Iconic Entrance Archway; Character Standees; Giant Ice Blocks; Branded Floor Decals and Arendelle Royal Crests and Flags.

Families can visit the ‘Disney’s Sparkling Frozen Forest’ at chic outdoor destination CITY WALK from 21 – 30 January from 2pm – 10pm on weekdays and from noon to 8pm on weekends. The family destination houses over 50 refined retail and culinary options across the asset, with a mix of global brands and original concepts born out of the region.
