#WearTheBlue to support your Home Team and Win

Tuesday 09 February 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: Godolphin, the global thoroughbred breeding and horseracing stable founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is inviting the people of Dubai and the UAE to #WearTheBlue in support of their home team, this Dubai World Cup Carnival.
Godolphin’s supporters are being encouraged to upload images of themselves ‘wearing the blue’ to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – using the hashtag: #WearTheBlue. Those posting images will automatically enter a competition where they can win weekly prizes. The overall winner of the competition will be selected from the six weekly winners, with one lucky fan winning a hospitality box for 10 people at Meydan for the Dubai World Cup race meeting.
Wearing the famous blue silks of Godolphin has been a dream for some, as Godolphin jockey and 2015 Dubai World Cup Winner William Buick explains. “As a boy growing up following horseracing I would dream of wearing the famous Godolphin silks. The Royal Blue of Godolphin always stood out. It is the ambition of every jockey to ride for the best stables in the world and Godolphin is at the top of this list. I still pinch myself whenever I’m getting into my blue silks for racing. No one has made a commitment to world racing like His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and it is an honour to be a part of his team.”
Commenting on #WearTheBlue Managing Director of Godolphin UK and Dubai, Hugh Anderson, said, “Half the fun of sport is being able to support your team and for all those who call Dubai home, Godolphin should be their team! This is especially true during the Dubai World Cup Carnival which is the only time in the annual racing calendar when Godolphin competes on home soil against the visiting international contenders and the UAE trainers. For over 20 years Godolphin has raced across the globe representing Dubai, and it will be great to see fans, both new and old, joining the build up to the Dubai World Cup race meeting through #WearTheBlue.”
In addition to the #WearTheBlue competition, Godolphin home team activities will be seen across the city of Dubai this Dubai World Cup Carnival with the Godolphin Jockey Challenge featuring in key locations providing fans with a chance to experience what it is like to be a jockey. There will also be a pop-up exhibition in Mirdif City Centre from 11th – 27th March and a schools programme running throughout February and March.

Fans can show their support for Dubai’s home team by following Godolphin on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
