Dubai – MENA Herald: Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), launched a comprehensive portfolio of smart applications (app) and maritime interactive services amidst praise from exhibitors and visitors of Dubai International Boat Show 2016, which is being held at Dubai International Marine Club until March 5, 2016. The Authority’s smart mobile app ‘Smart DMCA’ received overwhelming attention from the maritime community for being an integrated app that provides adequate information about DMCA’s operations, along with many interactive features, such as My Marina and Dubai Coast Today and the Self-Assessment – Marine Craft Driving Quiz and others.

The Maritime Authority reviewed, through its pavilion located at Stand Number S50, smart interactive features of ‘Smart Marine Traffic’ which can help in tracking the movement of marine transport in Dubai and ‘Smart Customer’ which provides clients with smart platform for maritime services of all kinds, including marine licensing services. Furthermore, the 24th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show offered a perfect opportunity to showcase ‘Smart Exam’ which is a quantum leap in terms of evaluating the competency of clients who wish to apply for a marine craft driving license easily and quickly, without having to visit the DMCA headquarters.

Other innovative applications launched at the leading marine event were ‘Smart Inspector’ and ‘Smart Employee’. ‘Smart Inspector’ is a smart channel to complete inspections, update data, and issue maritime exam results directly and electronically, while ‘Smart Employee’ enables DMCA’s staff immediate and direct access to all internal systems and services using smart devices at anytime and anywhere.

Mahmoud Oweida, Director of Information Technology, Dubai Maritime City Authority, stated that the development of a comprehensive portfolio of smart and innovative applications was the top strategic priority of DMCA. It complements Dubai’s smart transformation in accordance with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to make government services easier, faster and simpler to ensure happiness of customers and well-being of the community.

Oweida pointed out that DMCA is moving forward to embody the ambitious aspirations of bringing down the proportion of applicants by 80 per cent by 2018. This is driven by an integrated portfolio of interactive services and smart applications based on the best innovative practices of the Maritime Creativity Lab in line with the National Innovation Strategy which will position the UAE among the world’s most innovative countries. He added: “We are delighted to showcase to the visitors and exhibitors of Dubai International Boat Show 2016 the latest smart applications. It is the manifestation of our efforts to improve the experience of customers and facilitate necessary transactions to complete the maritime procedures quickly and seamlessly, while maintaining the highest standards in reliability, transparency and efficiency.”

Oweida said: “We are committed to develop and update the portfolio of smart applications based on the highest standards of international best practices and the latest technical innovations, guaranteeing interactive facilities to applicants to access marine services directly and quickly. Our efforts have yielded positive results in terms of finding smart interactive platforms for marine services, in line with the government’s efforts to build proactive and innovative smart government. We will continue to improve the available mobile apps as well as launch new ones such as ‘smart inspector’ and ‘smart employee’ and are confident that they will enhance the performance indicators and advancing smart transformation.”

DMCA offers through its pavilion in the Dubai International Boat Show 2016 licensing services for marine crafts and crew as well as issuing marine driving licenses in quick and efficient manner on-site. The event, which hosts over 800 companies from 51 countries, is expecting a high turnout of visitors who are looking to gain market insights and information about the latest maritime innovations and products in the period of five days. Visitors also have the opportunity to explore more than 430 boats present at the venue.
