Dubai - MENA Herald: du will reduce its roaming rates in the GCC in line with the announcement made by the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Secretariat General to reduce the roaming rates. Amongst du’s lower rates, roaming customers will only be charged AED 0.95 per minute for all local calls made within the visited GCC country, AED 0.29 for all sent SMSes while roaming, whilst data roaming will only cost customers AED4.77 per MB for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
“As a telecommunications provider, it is our responsibility to create social and financial ecosystems that truly benefit our valued customers, and add life to their day to day communication needs. This announcement is a step that will enrich the bond between all GCC countries by boosting tourism and business in parallel,” said Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Commercial Officer, du.
The new unified rates aim to simplify customers’ lives and ensure a seamless experience during their travel, by staying connected with their family, friends and business associates through their original numbers, without the need to purchase a new SIM from each destination within the GCC.
“At du, we continue to empower our valued customers with even more affordable connectivity and communication as they travel, for business or leisure, throughout the GCC. As a UAE business, we are vested in supporting and encouraging all initiatives that ensure people happiness and welfare. Therefore, we support this announcement, and will continue to establish joint ventures and encourage cooperation between the private and government sector for the good of the community.”
du roaming customers can also benefit from roaming data packs with du’s preferred partners across the world (including GCC). Pack details as follows:
100MB data for 24 hours at a cost of AED 50
1GB data for 7 days at a cost of AED 200
1GB data for 30 days at a cost of AED500
