Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Discusses Scholarship Programme with American University in Cairo’s Interim President Thomas Thomason

Dubai - MENA Herald: Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman, Al Habtoor Group welcomed Thomas Thomason, the interim President of the American University in Cairo (AUC) at the Al Habtoor Group head office on Al Wasl Road on Sunday 10 April, 2016. Thomason was accompanied by his wife along with Dina Abulfotuh, Vice President, AUC and Dina El Gazzar, Director of Development, AUC. Also present was Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman and CEO Al Habtoor Group and Abdul Salam Al Marzooqi, General Manager, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation.
The AUC delegation came to brief Al Habtoor on the status of a scholarship programme sponsored by the Chainman at the American University in Cairo. The scholarship aims to give 10 impoverish students from across Egypt the opportunity to receive a higher education at the respected institution.
Thomason said AUC has received many applications for the scholarship. The successful applicants will be selected once the outcome of their current education results are released later in the year.
Al Habtoor, a long-term support of AUC previously donated $5 million to finance Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Football and Track Stadium, an Olympic-standard facility boasting a full football field and a 400 meter, 10 lane track. The stadium has provided AUC with the ability to train and improve the athletic skills of its students in an ideal environment. The facility also provides the university with a prime venue for regional and international competition.
President Thomason personally thanked the Chairman for his ongoing support of the University.
Al Habtoor wished Thomason well for his presidency of AUC. “I wish you the best of luck at this fine educational establishment. You have a great team behind you to help ensure your success.”
