Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the launch of the Ukrainian Business Council which has become the 49th council operating under the umbrella of the Chamber. The objective behind the establishment of the new council is to promote economic relations between the business communities of Dubai and Ukraine. The council was officially inaugurated recently during the First General Assembly held at the Chamber headquarters with opening remarks by Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, and H.E. Yuriy Polurez, Ukrainian Ambassador to the UAE. The council’s chairman is Denys Bandura. The 20 founding members of the Ukrainian Business Council came together to consolidate their position in Dubai and the UAE and, through the council, showcase the best products and services on offer from Ukraine. The council also seeks to promote Ukrainian businesses operating in Dubai and encourage Dubai businesses to expand in the Ukrainian market. In his welcome address, Mr. Nasib applauded the council’s creation, calling upon the members to benefit from the experience of the existing councils operating successfully under the umbrella of Dubai Chamber. He added that the business potential between Dubai and Ukraine is immense as the country represents a unique location in Europe thus offering solid opportunities to develop trade relations with the emirate. On his part, H.E. Polurez informed about the many economic reforms launched in Ukraine which he said included fighting corruption, bringing more transparency to business deals and easing the barriers to trade. “Ukraine considers the UAE as a key partner in the region, and I’m confident that the new council with the support of the Ukranian embassy will continue the fruitful collaboration between our two countries,” he said. The non-oil trade between Dubai and Ukraine last year valued at AED 1.1 billion, and Ukraine currently ranks as Dubai’s 86th trading partner.
