Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is sponsoring the 20th International Holy Qur’an Award (DIHQA), on 12 June. The award commemorates the late Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and is being held at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. HE Ohoud Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and HE Ibrahim Bu Melha, Adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of the DIHQA organising committee, attended the event, which featured a lecture by Sheikh Saad Al Atiq from Saudi Arabia, on the ‘Secrets of Happiness.’
The 20th DIHQA is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and takes place from 1-20 Ramadan, and includes lectures for men, women, and foreign communities. A group of renowned scholars from around the world will take part. The prizes included in the award are of higher value than those anywhere else in the world due to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and commitment to enhancing Islamic Values and national identity.
During the event, DEWA’s conservation team also provided the audience with recommendations and advice about electricity and water use.
“We appreciate the efforts of the Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award in establishing a culture of the Holy Qur’an and promoting the noble principles and objectives of Islam. This supports efforts to motivate our youth to comply with the tolerant teachings of Islam and memorise and recite the Holy Qur’an. It also recognises the people who memorise the Holy Qur’an and encourages the talented from all over the world. This supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support social activities in all areas and enhance communications with all societies in and outside the UAE,” said Al Tayer.
“Our sponsorship of the 20th International Holy Qur’an Award is especially important. At DEWA, we are committed to supporting all philanthropic and humanitarian initiatives that enhance National identity. These activities are integral to DEWA’s social role as public institution, and its efforts to promote the values of giving, solidarity, and sharing,” added Al Tayer
“During Ramadan, we strive to enhance our efforts to raise awareness about the importance of conserving electricity and water. Everyone is responsible for protecting the environment, and promoting this culture throughout society,” concluded Al Tayer.
