HBMSU launches supportive initiatives for scientific research & leadership excellence at End of Year Learners Social Gathering 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), has launched a ‘Scientific Research Award for HBMSU Learners’ to further drive the university’s leadership. The launch was announced at the ‘End of Year Learners Social Gathering 2016,’ held recently at The Address Dubai Mall under the theme ‘HBMSU Graduate Contribution to the UAE Economic Growth.’

Among the highlights of the ceremony was the unveiling of the Alumni Association’s new identity as the ‘Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University Ambassadors’ Club.’ The HBMSU Ambassadors Club comprise of students and graduates who have made significant mark in their professional fields and have achieved excellence within institutional or governmental framework in local, regional or global arena. The regulations of the Learners Council were amended in accordance with a methodology that best prepares learners to become future leaders and carry forward the growth.

Dr. Al Awar commended the valuable contributions and positive impressions made by the university’s alumni and undergraduates, particularly in support of UAE Vision 2021’s goal of building a competitive, diversified, sustainable and knowledge-based economy and creating a rich social and cultural environment that ensures the highest quality of life.

He said: “We are honored to be a center of intellectual and cultural enlightenment and a source for competitive and highly qualified graduates. Our alumni are equipped with the best knowledge, experiences and practices acquired during their studies in order to support the development process pursued by our country under the vision of our wise leadership. I would like to congratulate the learners of Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart for embodying excellence, innovation and responsibility, taking inspiration from the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of HBMSU. I would urge them to continue to play vital role as a driving force for making a positive change locally, regionally and globally.”

In addition, Dr. Al Awar expressed his pride and appreciation for the exceptional efforts of the university’s learners in organizing the annual ceremony. He said that the event was enriched by smart programs, reflecting the high levels of modern knowledge gained by them at the university. He added that HBMSU takes full responsibility for building a generation armed with knowledge, positive energy, innovation, and excellence. This, he explained, aims not only to contribute to a bright future but also to achieve progress in accordance with the wise directives and great vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the members of the administrative and teaching bodies, partners, and sponsors for their continued support. I thank them for their trust which motivates us to continue with our journey of excellence in scientific research, knowledge transfer, and shaping the future of learning and education in the Arab World,” he concluded.

HBMSU honored outstanding learners studying for Bachelor's and Master's degrees at its Schools of Business and Quality Management, Health and Environmental Studies, and e-Education for the spring 2014-2015 and fall 2015-2016 semesters during a special awarding ceremony culminating a year full of academic achievements. 20 graduates, including Louay Mahmoud Ibrahim of Doctor of Philosophy in Total Quality Management; Dr. Humaid Al Candi and Asmaa Al Lnjawi of Master of Science in Organizational Excellence; and Jihad Radi of Management Program in Organizational Leadership, were honored for their continuing successes and quality achievements in various key areas.

Also recognized were Abdulla Al Kaabi, Sultan Al Shamsi, Mansour Al Balushi, Khalid Al Nasori, Asmaa Nusseiri, Marwan Al-Haj, Mariam Al Shehi, Maneh Al Muaini, and Ahmed Abdul Hakim Al Aji of the Master of Science in Innovation and Change Management. In addition, Mohammed Al-Habsi, Saeed Al Morshedi, Adel Mohammed Al Shehhi, Khalid Al Raisi, and Fatima Al Mansouri of the Bachelor’s Program in Quality and Business Management, and Saeed Al Maidour of Bachelor in Business Management in Accounting were also honored.

During the ceremony, Dr. Al Awar joined the audience in listening to a presentation on the effective roles played by learners who volunteered for the Innovation Arabia 9 Congress. The event was attended by Athbah Al Kamdah, Vice Chancellor of Learner Development at HBMSU and Prof. Mustafa Hassan, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The Deans praised the achievements of their learners as well as the efforts of the academic staff and parents to support the development of a young generation qualified to lead the future.

Khalid Al Ansari, an HBMSU learner pursuing a Master's Degree in Innovation and Change Management, shared his rich experience with the audience. He pointed out that HBMSU offers a unique approach in providing an exceptional learning environment that cultivates the cognitive, technical and practical abilities needed to meet the requirements of the 21st century.

“I am delighted to be part of HBMSU which has paved the way for me to reach a higher level of excellence, through the optimal investment in my creative energies and the development of my innovative abilities. I have hugely benefitted from its learning approach which uses the latest technological concepts to provide flexibility and efficiency in terms of time and effort. The honor bestowed upon me by the university today places upon me the responsibility of continuing on the path of excellence as an ambassador who ably represents HBMSU in the best way possible through my academic, personal and career success,” said Al Ansari

Eshrak Al-Atoli, a learner under HBMSU Bachelor's Degree programs, said: “Joining HBMSU was a pivotal moment of my life that has provided a lot of additional experiences and knowledge – all of which serve as a bridge to a successful career. I am happy to have the opportunity to participate in the comprehensive development led by our beloved country. I look forward to continue working hard not just to achieve professional and personal development, but also to raise the UAE among the ranks of the world’s best countries by applying the values ​​and rich knowledge that I have acquired at the university. I remain committed to focus on excellence in quality, innovation and scientific research which are important pillars for sustainable economic and social growth.”

HBMSU continues to promote a culture of quality and innovation in education and scientific research that only enriches knowledge and enhances creativity but also helps spur economic and social development in the UAE and across the Arab World.
