Dubai – MENA Herald: Apparel and footwear retailers in Dubai are experiencing a boom in business this summer, as residents and visitors make a beeline for outlets of home-grown, regional and international brands to snap up diverse deals that are being offered during Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

With Dubai being only second to London as the city with the most number of international retail brands, the 19th edition of DSS has given a further boost to the fashion industry, an integral part of Dubai’s vibrant retail sector.

Dubai’s market for apparel and footwear registered 5.5 % annual growth in sales since 2010 according to a report by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) based on data from Euromonitor International. The DCCI’s findings expect sales of apparel and footwear in Dubai to reach US $13.5 billion (approximately AED 49.5 billion) this year.

During DSS 2016 retailers are offering unbeatable deals with discounts of up to 75 % on an array of apparel and footwear products, as they connect with customers on a special level in a bid to boost summer sales.
Beleen Abdullah, Manager, Pink Woman at The Dubai Mall, said that footfall in the store has increased significantly over the past few weeks, with more tourists coming in to shop during DSS. She said that fashion items for young women were among the best-selling products this DSS while tourists are amazed by the variety of styles and colors on offer combined by the hefty discounts and great bargains that they can avail themselves of during DSS.
Zubair Momen, Manager, Raymond Made to Measure at The Dubai Mall, said that it was important to launch promotions that suit different types of shoppers in order to boost sales. He said that his store is popular with DSS visitors, as it maintains high standards of quality in both products and service, in addition to offering personalization options.
Yasmine Majdi, a tourist from Egypt, said that she was excited by the fact that DSS offers huge discounts on a wide range of apparel and fashion products and that participating retail outlets cater to different needs and tastes.
Noor Fatima, another tourist, also said that what attracts her most is the high quality, very reasonable prices and hefty discounts available exclusively during DSS.

The 19th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), the longest running family summer extravaganza of its kind in the region is organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism). DSS 2016, themed “Own The Summer” runs until 20 August, offering visitors rewarding experiences combined with world-class entertainment.
