WETEX 2016 showcases latest innovations in energy, water, and environment through a dedicated hall

Dubai - MENA Herald: In line with its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) has announced a specialised hall dedicated for innovation during the 18th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2016) which will be organised under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 4- 6 October 2016.
“Allocating a hall for innovation during WETEX is part of our continuous efforts to boost innovation in the UAE to support the National Innovation Strategy, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai; and the Dubai Innovation Strategy, launched by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to make Dubai the most innovative city in the world. The innovation hall aims to attract creative minds and innovative companies to showcase their inventions ad innovations side by side with leading global companies in the fields of innovation. This step will support the youth as well as boost energy, water, environment, and green development,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Founder and Chairman of WETEX.
“Dedicating a hall for innovation will motivate inventors from the UAE and the world to present their innovations through smart stands to boost practical and engineering research and develop scientific and innovative solutions in the fields of water, environment and sustainability. Many activities are lined up including workshops to discuss challenges facing the energy sector and suggest solutions. Leading global experts will participate at the Innovation Hall to discuss innovation among various industries covered by WETEX. The hall will also showcase the latest updates of energy, water, and environment sectors and highlight creative insights in the presence of moderators from international and local media specialised in environment and sustainability,” added Al Tayer.
WETEX 2016 will be held under the umbrella of Green Week, the pioneering initiative led by DEWA to boost the implementation of green practices. It also coincides with the first Dubai Solar Show, a key platform for solar energy solutions including building, operation, distribution, storage, and solar energy management technologies.
