Abu Dhabi – MENA Herald: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB)has been named one of the top innovators in Islamic finance by Global Finance magazine for launching the UAE’s first Digital Studio in partnership with IBM.

The Global Finance Awards evaluate leading financial institutions across a number of categories, recognising those who are leaders in their area of expertise. All winners are selected by the editorial board of Global Finance, which considers nominations and submissions, key research, and the input of experts to evaluate banks that stand out for their transformative products and solutions. This year’s Global Finance Innovator Awards recognised ADIB for ‘Process Innovation’, in creating the first Digital Studio with IBM.

The studio was launched earlier this year, in partnership with IBM, to accelerate the developmentof digital products and services for customers to enhance their banking experience. Those include mobile-banking iOS applications that allow a more dynamic customer experience and client relationship management tools from iPads. The Digital Studio includes a multidisciplinary team of experts from the bank and from IBM Design and IBM Interactive Experience.

ADIB has witnessed a rapid growth in customers using digital channels, especiallythrough mobile devices. Users of ADIB’s digital banking channels more than doubled in the last 12 months while smartphone transactions increased by 73% in the first half of the current year. The bank also launched a new version of its internet banking platform to create a more convenient customer experience.

ADIB aims to be the leading digital bank in the MENA region,and is continuously investing in its digital programme, which will allow the bank to introduce a range of innovative and tailor-made offerings for its customers.

ADIB was the first bank in the UAE to provide mobile banking services through Etisalat’s new Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) technology in 2010. ADIB’s mobile banking app – launched in 2014 – was named “most liked app” by customers in the RFI Independent study 2015. In 2016, ADIB also became the first bank in the MENA region to receive the Facebook badge for its responsiveness to customers on the social media platform – a testament to engaging with all various customer segments.
