Abu Dhabi – MENA Herald: Sky News Arabia has selected Net Insight, the leading provider of live, interactive and on-demand media transport, to implement its award-winning ‘media over internet’ services that build, launch and manage online media transport with unparalleled cost-efficiency, flexibility and reliability while seamlessly connecting news bureaus globally.

Sky News Arabia is building a new global content contribution platform that connects 10 global news bureaus with its main regional hub in Abu Dhabi. The leading Arabic broadcaster selected Net Insight for the company’s cost-effective media contribution over internet solution that leverages the Nimbra platform – Nimbra VA series with MPEG-4 encoding. Net Insight will also implement a service-centric network management system, Nimbra Vision, for an easy at-a-glance overview of the network, service health and performance.

Speaking on the new partnership, Suresh Kumar, Chief Technology Officer at Sky News Arabia, said: “By selecting Net Insight we are improving the availability and quality of our global bureau production. One of Sky News Arabia’s primary reasons for choosing Net Insight’s solution is its flexible and dynamic tool that offers greater connectivity to our international bureaus spread across vast geographies. Given the large number of media platforms currently available and taking into account media consumption trends, we continually endeavorto enhance our broadcast services across every available platform in delivering quality and credible content that can sustain a high and diverse viewership.”

Fredrik Tumegård, CEO of Net Insight, said: “The Middle East is an important territory for Net Insight and we are steadily growing our market in the region. Our increased attention and efforts in the Middle East will continue to strengthen our regional position. Our synergy with Sky News Arabia represents a significant step forward for our award-winning Nimbra VA platform in this region.”

With the Nimbra VA series, Sky News Arabia can adopt internet grade transport while maintaining the same strict broadcast quality standards it is renowned for. In addition, the leading Arabic broadcaster can benefit from a variety of internet-based services and offerings, including vast reach and cost effective price models – offerings that the consumer market has benefited from for years.

Live transport of broadcast quality video over the internet has long been considered impossible. While the internet was never designed to handle the demands of broadcast services, new solutions have emerged that efficiently bridge the gap between the best-effort nature of the internet and the high reliability and quality requirements of broadcasting.
