Dubai – MENA Herald: Dubai Sports City is set to open its doors to showcase the very best of sport and activities on offer in the area. The ICC Academy, which is located inside Dubai Sports City’s Sports Village will host the Dubai Sports City 2016 Open Day on Saturday, 3rd September between 09:30am and 13:00pm. Those attending will have the chance to sign up and try their hand at a wide array of coaching programmes, sports and entertainment facilities that are located within Dubai Sports City. The facilities include world-class cricket, football and golf academies, as well as the high-quality indoor and outdoor facilities that make up the expansive Sports Village campus.

The family fun-day out will be free to all and will allow parents and children alike to take part in competitions such as the Speed Gun – how fast can you bowl challenge – the Crazy Catch and Batting Zone. There will also be food and beverage outlets, community retail outlets and displays from Victory Heights Primary School and Bradenton Preparatory Academy.

The Els Club will also be showcasing what it has to offer the next generation of golfers with the internationally renowned Butch Harmon School of Golf offering children the chance to get involved.

Dubai Sports City General Manager- Sports Business, Maqbul Dudhia, said: “Yet again we are delighted to be hosting the Dubai Sports City – Season Launch event at the ICC Academy which allows us to showcase the range of fantastic world-class facilities we have on offer here in Dubai Sports City.

“However, our free family-friendly season launch event not only allows participants to try out more sports and activities than ever before, but allows us to demonstrate and emphasise the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle, which we believe is a way of life.

“As we know from previous events, the season launch event allows all of our retailers, sports and entertainment venues to demonstrate what they have to offer but it also brings the whole community together. We look forward to welcoming everyone on 3rd September.”

Held in the fully air-conditioned, indoor ICC Academy, the new season launch will be attended by coaches from the ICC Academy and Spanish Soccer School as well as golf pros from the Els Club and Butch Harmon School of Golf.

Coaches will be available throughout the day to interact with the children and give them insights on their favourite sport, providing enough information to both children and parents to decide which sport best suits them. Children who then sign up for an academy of their choice will receive special discounts and prizes for their registration on the day.

In addition to the introductory taster sessions on offer, the new season launch provides children and parents the chance to tour the outstanding facilities on the Sports Village campus. These include tennis, basketball, netball, rugby union, Australian Rules Football, and American Football alongside the well-established football, golf and cricket facilities.
