GEMS International schools celebrate exceptional performance in 2016 IGCSE/GCSE exams

Dubai - MENA Herald: Once again, students from GEMS International British Curriculum Schools across the United Arab Emirates have outperformed their counterparts in England in the IGCSE/GCSE examination results.
In 2016, the GEMS schools posted a record number of students, over 1300, who sat their IGSCE/GCSE examinations. Once again, 42% of all grades achieved across the GEMS schools were A* to A.
Against all measures, GEMS results were superior to the English national averages from 2015. We would anticipate the gap to be even larger when the 2016 results are known. In the percentage of students achieving 5A*/C grades GEMS did better by 11.2%; and in the percentage achieving 5A*/G grades, GEMS did better by 4.7%.
Most of our schools recorded marked improvements in their results. Standout performances included: Jumeirah College Dubai whose students achieved an extraordinary 64% A*/A grades with almost 50% of students gaining 8+ A*/A grades, and 100% achieving 5+ A*C grades; and Cambridge High School whose students achieved 49% A*/A grades.
Sir Christopher Stone, Chief Education Officer, GEMS Education, commenting on this year’s results congratulated the students, teachers and families on these exceptional results. “These results are a testament to the quality of our teaching and our school leadership at GEMS Education. But so importantly they reflect the drive and commitment of our extraordinary young people who will not only succeed in their post school studies but who will go on to be the best of the best as part of the next generation of responsible global citizens.” He did go on to say, that “in my decades of working in UK and international schools, I have never seen results like those achieved at Jumeirah College this year and we are so proud of the staff, the students and the families at that school.”
