Sharjah Tatweer Forum launches fourth edition of Sharjah Leadership Program

Sharjah - MENA Herald: Sharjah Tatweer Forum (STF) recently announced the launch of its fourth edition of the Sharjah Leadership Program (SLP) under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The SLP is an important initiative by STF aimed at empowering young people to take on the role of future leaders to ensure sustainable development of Sharjah and the UAE. Following tremendous success of the program in the past, the 2016 edition, is scheduled from November 2016 till May 2017 at the premises of the American University of Sharjah, with an expectation of high turnout of attendees compared to its 3rd edition.

The increase in the number of registrations for this year’s edition, which will be held in strategic partnership with Ministry of Economy, Bee'ah Sharjah Environment Company, American University of Sharjah as an academic partner, Al Etihad airlines as an airline partner; in addition to Sharjah Business Women’s Council, Petrofac, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Emirates Islamic Bank, and Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC). The SLP has emerged as a platform to promote human resources capabilities in the field of innovation, knowledge and leadership as well as reflects the pillars of UAE Vision 2021 and the National Strategy for Innovation. The importance of the forthcoming session is in providing ideal opportunities to the youths to acquire leadership and human resources skills in addition to the experience gained through project risks, quality and excellence, and teamwork management. This year’s edition includes a visit to the United Kingdom to attend courses on innovation in the University of Cambridge, its research centers, incubators, and several innovation-oriented companies.

“The importance of the SLP is in being an additional initiative that supports the national efforts to direct young leaders towards the latest global trends, practices, knowledge and experience, enabling them to make a positive impact in enhancing the competitiveness of Sharjah and the UAE. What makes this program special than the others is its key topics, including science of leadership, entrepreneurship skills, innovation and creativity, and change management which along with other vital themes help the nation shift to a competitive knowledge-based economy in line with UAE’s Vision 2021 led by informed, innovative and creative nationals," said Jassim Mohammed Albloushi, Chairman, Sharjah Tatweer Forum.

“The SLP complements the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan who has emphasized that the future of the nation depends on capacity building of its human resource,” added Albloushi. “We look forward to its fourth session with confidence and optimism which has proved to be successful in its previous sessions, especially in terms of encouraging investment in the optimization of the human capital and deepen and enrich the knowledge of the young future leaders to lead the UAE towards sustainable development."

Sharjah Tatweer Forum was founded in 2005 by an Emiri Decree issued by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The forum aims to raise awareness on key global and local trends, strengthen the role of the young, and tighten ties between the economic sectors in order to enhance the UAE’s competitiveness. The forum’s work is based on several frameworks, such as innovation, knowledge-based economy, and entrepreneurship. It supports construction projects that serve the emirate’s overall development as well as initiates community outreach programs, volunteer works, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The forum also seeks to promote fruitful cooperation with major consulting firms, research centers, and international and local universities to enhance the leadership and management skills of the younger generations.
