Dubai - MENA Herald: The Department of Economic Development (DED) and the Gulf Medical University’s Health Magazine recently organised a workshop to outline the application procedure for the Annual Health Awards 2017 and encourage healthcare professionals to participate in the Awards. The first-of-its kind initiative, the Health Awards has received an overwhelming response from UAE’s healthcare community, including doctors, nurses, physicians, as well as healthcare providers in the public and private sectors.

The two sides brought together the participating professionals to explain key principles for application and evaluation of the awards. Indu Singhal, Director, Emirates Business Management International Consultants, Dubai, spearheaded the workshop, providing a holistic strategy for submitting applications and highlighting social responsibility, innovation and ideas, customer experience, inspirational leadership, robust processes, infrastructure and partner development across the application process.

Commenting on the significance of the workshop, Shaikha Ahmed Al Bishri, Director of the Business Excellence Department in DED, said healthcare is an important pillar of the UAE’s development outlook and integral to Dubai’s pursuit of excellence and competitiveness.

“The Department of Economic Development is keen to identify and promote best practices in healthcare as the sector is critical to reinforcing the UAE, and particularly Dubai, as a hub of high quality and diverse services. Recognising the contributions of the Gulf Medical University and HEALTH Magazine’s distinguished readership, we have created the Health Awards platform to honour practical, scientific and research best practices in the public and private sectors, as well as organisations and individuals in the health sector. We, therefore, encourage more healthcare companies to join us in celebrating excellence and create an ecosystem that delivers learning experiences,” said Al Bishri.

Earlier in January, DED signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Health magazine, published by the Gulf Medical University (GMU), to support and promote the ‘Annual Health Awards,’ the first edition of which will be held in Dubai in January 2017. The awards will be adjudged by a panel of eminent professionals. For further details on this award, please contact info@healthmagazine.ae.
