Dubai - MENA Herald: PwC, one of the world’s largest professional services firms, announced the appointment of Sally Jeffery as its Global Education Network Leader.
Based out of PwC Middle East’s headquarters in Dubai, Sally leads the Education Consulting practice, a team of dedicated education specialists who are part of PwC’s 1,000 strong advisory workforce in the region, and will support the global network in expanding and in particular rolling out more services leveraging education technology.
Sally joined PwC Middle East's consulting practice in Dubai in 2007. She advises clients across the student lifecycle, from primary and secondary schooling to vocational skills training, higher education and research centres. The team have completed a broad range of assignments addressing the education and skills challenges in the region. For instance, she has completed research into barriers to greater female employment in the GCC; designed solutions for expanding military and medical education; studied the unique characteristics of how Arabs learn, and how to increase the professionalization of a broad range of occupations in the region. She has advised ministries on their education strategies, in particular focusing on multi-disciplinary STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) and improving the economic impact of research. Her team draws in a wide variety of top faculty from around the world to develop curricula and programmes aligned with local needs, and leverages the broader PwC education network – a network advising over 200 of the top global universities.
Prior to this, Sally worked in life sciences strategy consulting and has lived in the UK, US, Germany and France. It was medical education work in the Middle East that sparked her interest in education and she has led the Middle East's team for the past 6 years, recently completing a Masters in applied psychology with a focus on learning psychology. This, her second Masters, also gave her the opportunity to experience firsthand how technology can support online study.
Commenting on this appointment, Hani Ashkar, PwC Middle East Senior Partner said: “We are delighted to have Sally lead PwC’s Global Education Network in parallel to leading our Middle East Education Consulting team - this appointment attests to her important contributions over the last years, and her focus on digital transformation of the education sector is well aligned with PwC’s desire to offer more innovative solutions to solve important client problems.”
On her appointment, Sally Jeffery said: “I am particularly excited about how much investment we are making as a firm into digital solutions. For instance, as well as advising clients on how to get the most out of the digital education revolution, we are providing student centric management services to universities and training colleges in more and more markets around the world.” She added: “We as a firm are also particularly well placed to guide our Middle East and international clients on how to establish successful partnerships and joint ventures – transfer knowledge and learnings to more developing markets, and help our clients find that sweet spot between public and private partnerships. Academic institutions are not typically very experienced in commercial arrangements and we can help immensely in this area.”
PwC Middle East has also renamed the Education Consulting practice as “education and skills”, as this is a reflection of the critical significance of the vocational and technical skills sector in meeting employers needs for talent in the region.
