Dubai - MENA Herald: Kicking off the first knowledge exchange programme with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), UAE telecommunications provider du has sent Sarah Saifaei from Wholesale Products to Geneva as the first participant in the initiative. She joined the team at ITU on October 9, 2016 for a 6 weeks exchange programme during which she will learn about the latest global technologies and key ICT topics.

“This first-of-its-kind initiative aims to establish an exchange of expertise in ICT initiatives among global industry peers. At du, we are vested in preparing the next generation of ICT leaders, and we’re investing in homegrown talent by creating valuable and educational experiences for them,” said Ibrahim Nassir, Chief Human Capital and Administrative Officer, du. “We are pleased to be participating in this programme and wish our colleague is inspired by everything she learns and that she brings renewed enthusiasm and fresh perspectives to us in the UAE.”

Speaking about her experience so far, Sara said: “Taking part in this exchange program is incredibly exciting. My days at the ITU are filled with research and discussions on a wide variety of topics – some that I am closely familiar with, and others that are relatively foreign. It has been an invaluable experience to discuss and understand the various perspectives on current telecommunications trends, while also gaining perspective on the internal workings of an international organization such as the ITU. A few of the many things that I will take back with me to my work in Dubai is the global viewpoint on telecommunications topics and the linkages between various policies and decisions.”

du announced the first-of-its kind collaboration with ITU, the United Nation’s specialised agency for information and communication technologies in May this year. The knowledge exchange programme targets both parties’ employees, as part of the ongoing solid partnership between du and ITU. This pioneering initiative aims to establish an exchange of expertise in various initiatives including internships, training courses and innovation in technology. The training primary aim of the programme is to ensure that both sides are updated on the latest global technologies and key topics including Smart Sustainable Cities, Future 5G Networks, Radio Spectrum and many more.
