Supreme Council of Energy unveils implementation plan for Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050

Abu Dhabi – MENA Herald: The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has announced the implementation plan for the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, a year after the launch of the strategy by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 intends that 7% of Dubai’s total power output will come from clean energy by 2020, 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050. The announcement was made as part of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy’s participation in the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), being held in Abu Dhabi from 16–19 January 2017.

“In adherence with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Supreme Council of Energy has announced the plan to implement the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to ensure the strategy is implemented on time, according to the standards outlined within the framework of the strategy,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council of Energy.

“The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, in cooperation with its member companies and committees, has reviewed the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 in alignment with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to provide 7% of Dubai’s power output from clean energy by 2020, 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050,” said HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Energy.

The Supreme Council of Energy is displaying the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 at its stand. As well as the Emirates Energy Award to recognise sustainability and clean energy projects. The Emirates Energy Award includes ten categories: Energy Efficiency-Public & Private Sectors (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Energy Efficiency-Private Sector (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Large Energy Project (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Small Energy Project (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Connecting Solar Power to Buildings Project (for Large Projects over 500kW) (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Connecting Solar Power to Buildings Project (for Small Projects under 500 kW) (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Education and Capacity Building (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Research and Development (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Young Professional Energy Award (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), and Special Recognition Award.
