Dubai - MENA Herald: Today, du, the UAE-based telecommunications company with a focus on supporting and educating youth in the UAE, congratulated 15 dedicated Emirati students on the completion of its Summer Training Programme. To conclude their participation in the programme, the students were awarded ‘Work Experience Appreciation’ certificates during a graduation ceremony held at du headquarters in Dubai Media City recently.

“As a UAE national company, we are fully committed to further advancing the nation’s Emiratisation agenda,” said Ibrahim Nassir, Chief Human Capital and Administrative Affairs Officer, du. “That is precisely why we continue to launch educational programs designed to foster young Emirati talent and arm them with the tools, resources and knowledge needed to hone their skillsets. Immersing them in a real-life, dynamic work environment is key to enabling students with an enriching, hands-on experience – one that can accelerate their learning processes and help them serve as a vital part of the Emirati workforce.”

Students from Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology and Al Mahad Al Deeni, partook in the month-long summer training programme. They took on roles across different departments including Commercial, SME Marketing, Government Relations, Security and Operations and other business units.

The training scheme aims to encourage students to apply their academic learning to effectively navigate real-world professional experiences. As part of the programme, students were put through their paces via various activities intended to teach them how to interact with employees, perform various tasks, and conduct effective meetings.

“This year’s summer trainees were eager to seize the opportunity to learn and develop their vocational skills,” added Nassir. “Their exposure to du’s operating processes allowed them to gain invaluable experience within the telecommunications industry. We hope that the students have enjoyed their time with us. More importantly, we believe that their training will prove instrumental in helping them create pathways for their future success. We are proud to have mentored the UAE’s next generation of leadership.”

The graduation ceremony was attended by du’s National Development team, who supervised the training of the eighth batch of summer trainee graduates this year. This programme is one of several Emiratisation initiatives launched by du with the aim of nurturing Emirati talent.
