Abu Dhabi - MENA Herald: Abu Dhabi University (ADU) announced today its plans to open a new campus in Dubai offering master’s degree programmes in law, business and engineering. The announcement was made during ADU’s participation in Gulf Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX), the leading student recruitment event currently underway in Dubai.

The university’s expansion drive is aligned with its strategy adopted since its inception in 2003 to promote academic excellence and continuous growth. It is based on intensive studies that identified the current and future requirements of the labor market as well as the growing demand for high-quality higher education and postgraduate programmes in important disciplines such as business administration, engineering, law, literature and science.

His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi University’s Executive Board, said: "The opening of our new campus in Dubai articulates the vision of the UAE's wise leadership to galvanise efforts towards building a knowledge-based economy and foster a culture of innovation that ensures sustainable economic growth for future generations. It also follows the blueprint laid by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Regents to make ADU a national academic institution that contributes to preparing qualified graduates who actively participate in shaping the future of our nation. Today, our academic institutions play a significant role in building knowledge-based economies, achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life. This mandates concerted efforts to promote scientific research and implement the national strategy for innovation, beginning with our students and continuing to broader society and various economic segments.”

Bin Harmal added: “Achieving excellence and retaining the country's top position in global competitiveness indicators necessitate delivering world-class higher education. Being ranked among the top 750 academic institutions worldwide as per Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world university rankings, our multi-discipline academic programmes ensure that 90% of our graduates secure a job opportunity within one year of their graduation. In attracting thousands of participants, GETEX serves as the ideal platform to announce the opening of our new campus in Dubai. It is also a perfect opportunity for us to renew our shared commitment to preparing a new generation of qualified future leaders who will ensure optimal utilisation of our capabilities and resources through offering advanced higher education programmes for our student community.”

“Our new campus in Dubai will be a valuable addition to the local and regional academic landscape building on ADU’s continued commitment to academic excellence, scientific research and qualitative partnerships with international academic institutions. Over the past years, ADU and its colleges have earned several international accreditations including EQUIS accreditation for all undergraduate, and postgraduate programs of College of Business Administration.

This accreditation was received from the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration, created and run by the ‘European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), making ADU the first and only higher education institution in the Middle East to receive this international academic accreditation. The collage has also earned in 2015 the international academic accreditations from the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges: Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC),” Bin Harmal added.

The University currently has about 7,000 students from 70 nationalities studying in its Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses. It offers 44 internationally accredited programs including 29 undergraduate programs and 15 postgraduate programs. Additionally, its 12,000 alumni work in different sectors in the UAE and abroad.
