Tejar Dubai workshop reviews innovation in the retail sector

Dubai – MENA Herald: The Tejar Dubai entrepreneurship development programme, a Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry initiative, organised a workshop in collaboration with Meraas Holding entitled‘Innovation in the Retail Sector’ at the Chamber head office as part of its efforts to encourage entrepreneurship in the retail sector. The workshop familiarised young Emirati entrepreneurs with the concept, application and culture of innovation in the retail sector, highlighted best practices in the global retail sector, andshowcased success stories. The workshop was conducted by Khalid Al Janahi, Assistant Manager – Retail Leasing, Meraas Holding, who spoke about some of the innovative projects of Meraas and offered tips on creating an inspiring destination for customers. Also speaking at the workshop wasDr. Marcel Saucet, Senior Partner and Founder, Street Marketing Agency, whoshed light on how to adopt innovative and creative practices in the retail sector;and Mansoor Al Bastaki, Founder and CEO, MAB Middle East Trading who shared his successful experience in the retail sector. “The workshop, which is the first for this year, was organised as part of the Tejar Dubai entrepreneurship development programme whose aim is to train budding Emirati entrepreneurs to realise their dreams and to arm them with the required tools to succeed in the business world. Last year, we organised more than 20 workshops, attracting over 800 participants. Since the programme’s beginning in 2013, we have helped launch 25 commercial projects of Tejar Dubaicandidates,” said Essa Al Zaabi, Senior Vice-President, Institutional Support Sector, Dubai Chamber, and General Coordinator of Tejar Dubai. “Aligned with Dubai’s positioning as a 21st century destination that embraces values, cultures and aesthetics from around the world, each Meraas development delivers inspired, themed, live-work-play spaces that add to the cityscape as intrinsically classic as they are futuristic,”said Khalid Al Janahi, Assistant Manager – Retail Leasing, Meraas Holding. Under its three pillars of assess, assist and attain, the Tejar Dubai initiative provides Emirati youth with access to an extensive development programme that includes classroom learning, on-site training, mentoring and business advice. It also facilitates networking opportunities with local and international business leaders, and access to investment capital while helping them establish their own small-to-medium-sized businesses. With its commitment to the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, which emphasises that entrepreneurship is the shortest route to a bright future, the training programme aims to find and train creative and commercially-minded youth to help them turn their business ideas into a reality.
