World Retail Congress announces winners of World Retail Awards 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: The winners of the World Retail Awards 2016 were announced in Dubai during the 10th World Retail Congress at Madinat Jumeirah organized under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, from April 12 to 14. Fashion Institute of Technology New York was declared the winner in the Future Retail Challenge category sponsored by Chalhoub Group while GOME Electrical Appliances Holding Limited won the Best Cross Channel Consumer Experience category sponsored by JDA. John Lewis was the winner in the Best Holiday Season Advertising Campaign category, and Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics was named the Responsible Retailer of the Year sponsored by Majid Al Futtaim. The Store Design of the Year award sponsored by Global Rich Business went to Fang Suo Commune, Chengdu store, while Eight Inc. won the Rodney Fitch Award for Innovation and Creativity sponsored by Dubai Chamber. Julie Stevanya, Stylerunner was declared the winner of the Young Retail Entrepreneur of the Year award sponsored by Magrabi. Retailer of the Year award sponsored by IBM went to T.J. Maxx/The TJX Companies Inc, and Aditya Birla Retail Ltd won the Retail Transformation and Reinvention award sponsored by BCG. The Outstanding Leadership Award was won by Dr Gordon Campbell, Consultant to the Board and Former CEO, SPAR International. Ian McGarrigle, Chairman of the World Retail Congress, said: “This year's finalists and winners are the most diverse we have seen for range of companies, sectors and countries. Meanwhile, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has entered into an agreement with the organising committee of the World Retail Congress to host the 11th edition of the event in Dubai next year. The 10th World Retail Congress in Dubai attracted more than 1400 participants from 58 countries. The internationally acclaimed retail event was held for the first time in Dubai and the first time outside Europe.
