Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai-based DC Aviation Al-Futtaim (DCAF) broke ground today on a major expansion of its facility at Dubai South.

Scheduled for completion by Q3 of 2017, the new hangar will add 6,800 sqm of covered space to the existing DCAF business aviation terminal at Dubai South bringing its total land-side plot area to 24,000 sqm and the apron area to 13,000 sqm.

The expansion will more than double the hangar capacity as well as enable DCAF to add two single aisle aircraft maintenance bays and provide enough space for an additional workshop and equipment storage. It will also significantly increase the number and size of aircraft which can be accommodated at the facility

The ground breaking ceremony was attended by Board members of DC Aviation and Al-Futtaim, senior official from AFGRE, senior officials from Dubai South, and members of the media.

“The expansion of our facility demonstrates our commitment to continue our investment at Dubai South and to ensure our facility and services are in line with the growing demands of our VVIP customers,” said Holger Ostheimer, General Manager, DC Aviation Al-Futtaim.

“Since commencing operations in 2013, DCAF has been steadily scaling up its operations and the company now has four aircraft under management including two Bombardier Challenger 604 and a Gulfstream G200 and a Bombardier Global XRS,” he added.

“The expansion will help us further grow our aircraft management business as well the maintenance side which currently supports customers operating the Airbus 320 family, Bombardier Global Express, the Challenger 604/605, the Global 6000 and Global 5000 Vision Flight Deck aircraft types.”

Ahmed Al Ansari, Acting CEO, Dubai South, said: “We congratulate DC Aviation Al Futtaim on the success of their operations at Dubai South. The inauguration of their new facility is testimony to Dubai South’s commitment to providing its partners the optimum platform and necessary infrastructure to grow their businesses. This milestone also serves to corroborate our strategy of building a comprehensive ecosystem dedicated to the aviation industry, thereby fulfilling the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in ensuring that Dubai takes its place globally as the aviation capital of the world. Dubai South and Al Futtaim share a strategic history that dates back to when they were the first partners to establish base in our Aviation District.”
