Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Land Department (DLD) has announced that the ninth edition of its annual charity campaign – ‘Why Do We Keep It?’ – will run for five days from 7th to 11th May 2017 in cooperation with the Dubai Charity Association and the Youth Sports Club. The campaign encourages Dubai government employees, relevant stakeholders, public and private school students, and the public to donate items they no longer need for a good cause.
Thanks to its proactive and forward-thinking organisation of the campaign, DLD has secured the support of over 80 stakeholders for this year’s edition, including government agencies, private companies and schools across the UAE. In addition, the campaign is expected to attract more participants who are wanting to make in-kind donations.
Duaa Dablan, Director of Planning and Corporate Development at DLD, commented: “Every year we look forward to fulfilling our campaign objectives in coordination with charities and other parties, to further our commitment to providing assistance and support to all segments of society. We are dedicated to developing a real sense of social responsibility at the department, and we believe this year's initiative will be further strengthened as it coincides with the UAE’s ‘Year of Giving 2017’.”
Over the years, the campaign has attracted growing patronage from supporting bodies, with employees also showing their willingness to participate by donating usable property to disadvantaged families. This ensures that the campaign goals are fulfilled and that the initiative is a great success each year.
Dubai Land Department is implementing a comprehensive social responsibility programme that provides support to all segments of society in need. The campaign is also being launched in the run-up to the Holy Month of Ramadan, which is expected to attract greater numbers of philanthropists who wish to bring joy to the needy in cooperation with charities, who will support the campaign by delivering donations to families in a timely and efficient manner.
In addition to clothing, household utensils, kitchenware, leather products including shoes and bags, and electrical appliances ranging from refrigerators to air conditioners and fans, donors can provide food, sanitary materials, decorative items, and any products or goods that they deem appropriate.
The campaign has been organised annually by the Dubai Land Department and was launched in 2008 in cooperation with only one entity.
