H.E. Abdulla Al Shaibani announced 9th Dubai Forum of Government Best Practices

Dubai - MENA Herald: His Excellency Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai and Head of Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) announced the 9th edition of Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices. The Forum will take place on 25th and 26th of October at DWTC, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Under the theme “Youth Government...Future Government.”

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai says, “A government cannot build sustainable development for its people without actual involvement of the youth.”

H.E. Abdullah Al Shaibani, Secretary General of Dubai Executive Council, in his speech at the press conference, said: “DGEP has organized the Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices over the last eight years. The Forum has unparalleled success in offering a platform where the best global practices are openly discussed and it highlights the most innovative solutions to guide and improve governmental work.”

“This Forum also supports the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to boost Dubai’s growth and convert it to become the smartest city in the world. It is also in line with UAE’s and Emirate of Dubai’s efforts towards developing and applying sustainable strategies in harmony with “Vision 2021” and “Dubai Plan 2021,” he added.

The forum is a leading interactive platform, which hosts well-known experts at the local, regional and international levels, to collectively share their experiences to all participants. It also aims to build an integrated system of excellent government work, not only in providing services, but also in achieving the happiness of both the employee and customer. There is a strong belief that a happier employee is a more successful one, who can contribute in achieving customer’s happiness as well.

These are all embodied in the Forum’s theme, which is anchored on the vital role of the youth in ensuring a strong government of the future.

Knowledge Partner
Dr Ali Sebaa Al Merri, Executive President, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government said: “The UAE has made tremendous achievements in improving the quality of governance under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He added: “Through our participation in the Dubai Forum for Government Best Practices, we aim to reinforce our keenness in playing an impactful role in the evolving government services landscape. Towards this priority, we launched the Emirates Center for Government Knowledge, earlier in 2016. The center will document the UAE’s best practices, successful initiatives and accumulated expertise, and help facilitate the exchange of knowledge between diverse government entities in the UAE and the wider Arab world.”
He added: "The participation of the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government in Dubai forum for government best practices as knowledge partner, reflects our continues cooperation with other governmental departments in order to develop the government performance in Dubai and to document outstanding Emirati experiences. In this context, comes our work in the “Emirates Center for Government Knowledge” as a key contributor to promoting government excellence in the UAE. We also focus on disseminating success stories and accumulated experiences in a manner that ties theory with practice and reproduces & shares knowledge between government entities to serve achieving UAE objectives as well as the region's objectives.

International Speakers at the Forum
Dr. Ahmad Al Nusairat, Coordinator General, Dubai Government Excellence Program said:
“HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, believes that the youth are the pillars of development and progress. Through the Forum, we aim to enhance and promote the concepts of enabling youth to undertake an active role, as well as supporting them as a key foundation for the future.”
He also stated that the Forum aims to identify experiences and achievements of government entities, teams, projects, initiatives, and employees who won at DGEP categories. Experts and leaders involved in government work discussed modern trends and key challenges of government work, as well as the practical solutions to overcome them. The Forum also helps in facilitating knowledge transfer and continuous learning from best local and international best practices. Ensuring active youth involvement, and developing their skills to enhance their roles as leaders in the government of the future.
Dr. Al Nusairat added that what is new in this year’s forum is introducing an innovative event. “Cinema the – Best Government Practices”, will play movies in a well-equipped cinema hall for a more relaxed atmosphere while raising awareness of practices undertaken by government entities in Dubai.

Moreover, DGEP will launch a new initiative “Excellence Talks”. A group of outstanding Emirati youth will make a quick and exciting demonstration to share new and unique ideas. The initiative also aims to highlight young achievers in every field, and to share their experiences and most important achievements to the forum’s attendees. Fifteen outstanding young Emiratis who have demonstrated international and local achievements will participate in this session.

Dr. Al Nusairat said, “We are very happy to host HE Mohamed AL Abar as a keynote speaker. While Frode Morinj, Resident Representative of the United Nations and the United Nations Development Programme, will talk about “Youth in The Modern World”.
In addition, a panel discussion under the title “Youth Ambitions” will take place on the first day. Farah Pandith, Global Lecturer and an employee at the offices of Barack Obama, will share her rich experience in this session alongside Ameera Amira the founder of Weyakum (with you) a non-profit social enterprise that aims to equip UAE youth and young professionals with the skills necessary to succeed in their professional lives, contributing to the UAE Government’s vision of creating a more diversified and competitive Emirati workforce. As for the second day, the Forum will host the global lecturer on Future Insights, Jon Duschinksy, who will talk about “Virtual Jobs, are the jobs of the future”. Jordan Casey, Apple’s youngest programmer and inventor will talk about his success story and excellence.
The second day of the Forum also includes panel discussions and lectures from the winners of DGEP Award 2016, through sessions named “Youth Council”, “Session for Innovators” and “Session for Distinguished Young People”.
Dr. Al Nusairat concludes, “Etisalat is a strategic partner for the Forum this year and Dubai Media Corporation is our key media partner. We value the role of both organizations in making this year’s Forum a success.”
