Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation Showcase salma Humanitarian Aid Initiative at DIHAD 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) will highlight its efforts and accomplishments in boosting international humanitarian aid through the salma Humanitarian Aid program and related projects at the 13th Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition (DIHAD 2016). In addition to providing an overview of its goals for salma this year, AMAF will also cooperate closely with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) as a key partner towards supporting its objectives of assisting countries, through its humanitarian aid program.

Speaking on AMAF’s participation at the definitive humanitarian aid and development event, His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, said: “Under the guidance of our visionary leadership, the UAE has a proven track-record of providing seamless and timely assistance to the needy across the globe. salma provides emergency and sustainable food assistance to anyone anywhere. We are delighted to be working with WFP and our other global partners dedicated to providing humanitarian aid.”

On the same occasion Mr. Abdullah Al Wardat, Director, WFP Office UAE and GCC Countries, said: “We are looking forward to a strong and productive cooperation with AMAF. Through the
salma Humanitarian Aid initiative, AMAF supports international relief efforts in providing packed, highly nutritious, 100% halal food to affected people transcending color, race and other differences. Their goal is perfectly aligned with our humanitarian goals as well as those of the UAE. We are both dedicated to providing humanitarian aid for the collective purpose of achieving security and stability in the world’s most affected areas.”

An innovative UAE-based initiative, salma Humanitarian Aid ready to eat meals are a core component of Dubai’s strategy to emerge as the global capital of Islamic economy. The program is financed through sustainable waqf funding and projects. In collaboration with international aid agencies and organizations, the programme recently distributed more than 70,000 packaged meals among the war torn people of Socotra in Yemen, and over 41,000 packaged to West African countries, including Togo, Niger and Burkina Faso.
