du celebrates May Day with free recharge cards for UAE’s labour community

Dubai – MENA Herald: In celebration of International Labour Day, more fondly referred to as May Day, du has joined forces with Dubai Customs and Dubai Police to celebrate the UAE labour community. As part of the initiative, du distributed small gift packs including AED15 du calling cards to 500 deserving blue-collar workers.
“We see it as our responsibility to give back to one of the hardest working communities in the UAE. The labour force come to our country, and contribute to our ever expanding economy, in turn, we extend our gratitude to them in a multitude of ways throughout the year,” said Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du. “We believe that connectivity is a basic human right, which is why we endeavour to keep the labour community connected, with each other and to their families back home.”
du continues to support this vibrant community through a number of initiatives aimed at adding life to life through connectivity, entertainment and sport. Last year, the telecom operator provided 2000 Hello Recharge cards and 2000 Alo SIM Cards in support of the UAE Oral Hygiene drive. In the same year du presented the ninth edition of the ‘Western Union Camp Ka Champ’ covering 140 labour accommodations with over 4,000 contestants auditioning across the UAE, and organised movie screenings throughout December. For a number of years, du has also organised cricket matches for UAE labourers to watch and participate in.
