du delights the UAE’s labour community with an outdoor cinema experience this December

Dubai - MENA Herald: In the season of giving, du adds life to life to one of the UAE’s most hardworking communities by arranging free movie screenings across labour accommodations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Until the end of the year, UAE’s blue collar workers will be given even more reasons to smile, as they get together with friends and share in the experience of the latest films.

The first screenings were held at Jiwin Accommodation in Sonapur Dubai, Dulsco Village in Al Quoz Dubai, and Al Salaam Living City in Abu Dhabi, where hundreds of labourers delighted in in the latest blockbuster movies. Screenings will be held until the end of the year, on December 24 and 31, at Sonapur Dubai, Al Quoz Dubai, Jebel Ali Dubai, Al Rayan Abu Dhabi, Salaam City Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah Sajja.

Hala Badri, Executive Vice President Brand and Communications, du said: “This December we are extending our gratitude to the UAE’s hard-working community which has played a key role in the construction of our award-winning cityscape. We are supporting them by giving them more ways to have fun and connect with their friends across UAE’s labour accommodations. We look forward to seeing all of the happy faces as they come together and connect through the power of cinema.”

Over the years, du has supported the labour community through a number of initiatives aimed at adding life to life through sport and entertainment. Following the launch of Alo, du distributed sim cards with preloaded credit to low-income workers. For a number of years, du organised cricket matches for UAE labourers to watch and participate in. In addition, in line with the UAE leadership’s ‘Thank You’ campaign, du organised a movie screening that UAE labourers could enjoy, while du volunteers provided refreshments and gift bags. This year du provided 2000 Hello Recharge cards on top of its 2000 Alo SIM Cards in support to the UAE’s Oral Hygiene Drive, additionally, the company presented the ninth edition of the 'Western Union Camp Ka Champ' covering 140 labour accommodations with over 4,000 contestants auditioning across the UAE.
