HBMSU celebrates the accession of three of its learners to the Dubai Youth Council

Dubai - MENA Herald: Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) celebrated accession of three of its learners to the Dubai Youth Council (DYC), which was formed to serve as the executive arm of the UAE Youth Council in Dubai and aimed at engaging young people in the making of the future. Mansour Al Balushi, Jawaher Salim Bilal Al Muhairi and Aisha Saeed Hareb have been named as newest members of the Council. The achievement is a welcome addition to the key number of pioneering achievements from the university--a first for smart and distance learning in the UAE and the Arab world and a pioneer center to prepare young generations capable of building a competitive economy based on knowledge as part of ‘UAE vision 2021’.

Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMSU, congratulated the learners who succeeded in joining the elite creative young circle. He expressed his confidence in their ability to make a clear imprint in the embodiment of the ambitious aspirations to recruit energies of promising youth in move towards development--leading the country into the ranks of advanced nations in the world by the year 2021. He added, “HBMSU has succeeded under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of the University, in offering valuable contributions in terms of enriching knowledge and inculcating a culture of innovation and excellence among young people, while also creating a positive environment that enables them to play pivotal roles in driving growth progress and prosperity.”

“The selection of three of our distinct learners for membership into the Council reinforces our leadership in the development of national leaders based on a high degree of excellence, competitiveness and knowledge. This places a greater responsibility on our shoulders to continue investing in the potential of our youth, in line with the wise vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who affirmed that the UAE was established by the youth and will continue to rely on their capabilities and skills,” Dr. Al Awar concluded.

Athbah Al Kamdah, Vice Chancellor of Learner Development at HBMSU, said: “It is not surprising for these three learners to join the Dubai Youth Council as HBMSU has always been regarded as a leading scientific, cultural and intellectual beacon. The university is also a major contributor in shaping the future of education and development in harmony with the requirements of the 21st century. On this occasion, we promise His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of the University, that we will remain steadfast in our commitment to move forward towards excellence and create a pioneering approach to producing creative leaders with the knowledge and innovation to build the future.”

For his part, Omar Al Humairi, Chair of the Learner Council at HBMSU, expressed his pride for the three learners who have proven that they are ambassadors for HBMSU, which reflects the university’s keenness to develop young competencies with the expertise of unique and modern knowledge and high capacity for excellence, innovation and leadership, which falls in line with the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 to enhance the country’s human resources.

Al Humairi added: “We have achieved during the past few years, successful achievements in terms of preparing young leaders capable of taking the initiative and making a positive difference in the community, which motivates us to continue to work hard in order to provide quality programs that promote leadership and analytical skills for our students—who are all expected to take on future ministerial and leadership positions in the next four years.”

HBMSU’ learners are expected to work closely together with the rest of the members to achieve the objectives of the DYC, including achieving harmonization with the federal government directives and the ‘Emirates Youth Council’ in order to create a platform for communication between young people, government and private entities in the emirate, as well as recognizing the aspirations of young people, their future challenges and the development of initiatives and projects that meet their aspirations. DYC seeks to oversee the implementation of youth projects that works to strengthen their role by involving them in the follow-up and coordination process with the concerned authorities.
