Thursday 22 June 2017

DUBAI - MENA Herald: In keeping with the spirit of care, love, peace and social responsibility during the holy month of Ramadan, the Himmah Voluntary Club, a subsidiary of Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, has shown the power of compassion to some less fortunate children and elderly residents.

The visits by a group of girls from the club to the Dar Al Aman Nursery and the Old People's Home in Sharjah highlighted the importance of social values and encouraged the girls to recognise and remember the needs of different community segments in their daily lives.

In the first visit, the girls were briefed on the vital humanitarian work carried out by Dar Al Aman Nursery, which takes care of children whose mothers are serving time in correctional institution.

The girls learnt about the role the nursery plays in providing the best care for the children and enhancing community relations, showing them that the UAE will always provide a caring society whatever their circumstances. At the end of the visit, the girls distributed gifts and basic essentials to the children, such as clothing and blankets.

In the second visit, the club’s delegation headed to the Sharjah Old People’s Home where they socialised and shared an Iftar meal with the elderly residents before distributing the gifts.

The girls said that the two visits have left a deep and positive impact with them, reinforcing the importance of lifting the spirits of people regardless of their ages. They also stressed that the interaction helped to instil a greater understanding of community engagement and social communication.
