Dubai - MENA Herald: The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment will host a Youth Circle on Thursday, August 11 under the title 'Climate Change and Sustainability is Our Shared Responsibility'. The event is part of the Youth Circles initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and aims to integrate the youth in the UAE's development process by communicating with them and listening to their thoughts in finding solutions to various challenges.
The Youth Circle, which will be held at the Mleiha Archaeological Centre in Sharjah, will be hosted by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority and attended by His Excellency Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Her Excellency Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and head of the UAE Youth Council. The Youth Circle will highlight the pivotal role that the UAE plays in combatting climate change and advancing sustainability and its impact on the protection of natural resources. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment believes that combatting climate change and advancing sustainable solutions is the responsibility of society as a whole - in particular the youth who can play an important role in transforming environmental challenges into opportunities.
His Excellency Dr Al Zeyoudi said: "The youth are the most effective segment of society when it comes to raising awareness and communicating with the rest of society. Through the Youth Circle initiative, we aim to highlight the important role of youth in achieving a sustainable future and combatting climate change. This comes as part of the country’s efforts to prepare for a post-oil economy. We are also aiming to encourage the youth to pledge their support in spreading awareness for these issues among their families, schools or university colleagues and via social media."

The UAE Youth Council oversees these circles and organizes them in various parts of the country to provide a platform for the integration of youth in the different fields that impact the future of the country. The Youth Circles also allow young people to present their ideas and discuss the best practices and challenges in vital areas. One of the most important of areas that supports the initiatives of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, is environmental education. The Youth Circles aim to promote environment education to contribute to the mitigation of climate change effects and increase the awareness for sustainability.
