Drawing upon case studies from all represented sectors, the conference will seek to advance understanding and share the latest innovations in the weather forecasting space.

His Excellency Dr Abdullah Al Mandoos, Executive Director of the National Center of Meteorology & Seismology (NCMS), said: “Accurate weather forecasting is critical to the continued economic development of the UAE. Our participation at this definitive event is aimed at sharing expertise and experiences with attendees and stakeholders. In addition to discussing the latest technological advances in the field of meteorology, we also aim to highlight the UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science as a pioneering initiative that could significantly boost our understanding of rain and cloud phenomena.”

The inaugural cycle of the UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science is currently underway, with up to five projects eventually selected as winners for a total grant of US$5 million that will be awarded over a three-year period. Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the UAE, the program is designed to help arid and semi-arid regions overcome water scarcity challenges by using technology to stimulate rainfall.

Alya Mazroui, Program Manager of the UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science, said the initiative seeks to “promote research and scientific studies in the field of rain enhancement in the UAE and other arid and semi-arid areas around the world, in order to use these techniques to increase reserves of potable water. Water security is a crucial aspect of national security that can no longer be ignored. Through our participation at such industry-specific events, we are confident we can support global efforts to strengthen water resilience by promoting research and development and stepping up investments in science and new technologies.”

Omar Al Yazeedi, Director of Research and Development and Training at NCMS, said: “NCMS is committed to marking an impactful participation at WeatherTech GCC that serves as a high-profile platform to discuss and debate the delivery of cutting-edge, value-added meteorological services to the region. We are keen to leverage this excellent opportunity to network with major public and private sector stakeholders to contribute to augmenting water resources and increasing water security.”

NCMS collects meteorological and seismic information, monitors the changes that occur in the atmosphere, and provides meteorological services and seismic data for the benefit of the concerned authorities in the UAE in cooperation with other regional and international organizations.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
