Dubai - MENA Herald: GAC Dubai’s contract logistics division has set a new record by handling 1 million cubic metres (CBM) of stock in the first eight months of 2016, and is on track to hit an annual record through of 1.5 CBM by year-end. The milestone continues the growth of the business, which handled 874,000 CBM of stock in 2014, and 1 million last year.

The news comes after the opening of a new dedicated co-packing facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) as part of the growth strategy for GAC Dubai’s contract logistics arm. The new facility added 800 sqm to the co-packaging area, making 1,800 sqm of space available for printing, labelling, kitting and product assembly services. The facility also includes two new temperature-controlled cleanrooms.

Neil McMaster, General Manager - Contract Logistics at GAC Dubai says the new milestone is the result of GAC’s high standards of customer service, logistical excellence and aggressive business development.

“We now have the facilities and expertise in place to support sustainable expansion,” he adds. “We are taking a very focused approach towards adding new clients in fast moving operations - such as food contracts with high pallet throughput volumes and retail contracts with low pallet volume but high piece quantity. The result is a balanced portfolio that is delivering rapid results backed by excellence in service delivery. I congratulate all staff members and teams for their hard work and diligence in supporting and enabling business expansion.”

GAC was a pioneered of contract logistics services in the Middle East, opening the the region’s first distribution centre in Dubai in 1993. The 103,000 sqm GAC Logistics Park is still one of the region’s largest and most advanced facilities.
