Abu Dhabi - MENA Herald: Abu Dhabi will play host to the inaugural World Strategy Summit, which features an impressive line-up of the most prominent, contemporary thought leaders and expert strategists, drawn from academic, corporate and government entities and takes place at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort on 16-19 November 2015.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of UAE and Minister of Interior, the interior ministry is leading this initiative in strategic partnership with the Association for Strategic Planning and is produced by the World Development Forum as the organising partner.

“If we are to create a better, sustainable future, then strategic leadership, thinking, planning, and execution have to be the most important components of both public and private sector leadership in the 21st century,” said General Dr. Nasser Al Khreibani Al Neimi, Secretary General of the Minister of Interior, UAE

“The World Strategy Summit is bringing together the world’s leading authorities on strategy, leadership and innovation to present an unprecedented opportunity for government & business leaders to learn, interact, challenge, and apply - helping them to become effective champions of their strategic undertakings and enabling them to overcome the real challenges that will dominate tomorrow’s world,” Added General Dr. Nasser.

The summit features some of the world’s renowned strategy, leadership & innovation thought leaders, such as Tom Peters, Gary Hamel, Renee Mauborgne and Rafael Ramirez.

Gary Hamel is one of the world’s most influential and iconoclastic business gurus. His most recent bestsellers have been The Future of Management and What Matters Now.
In these volumes, Hamel presents an impassioned plea for reinventing management and lays out a blueprint for building organisations that are fit for the future.

The Wall Street Journal recently ranked Gary Hamel as the “World’s most influential business thinker” and Fortune magazine has called him “The world’s leading expert on business strategy.”

Renée is a Professor of Strategy at INSEAD business school and Co-Director of the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute. She is the co-author of Blue Ocean Strategy, which has sold over 3.5 million copies, it is being published in a record-breaking 43 languages, and is a bestseller across five continents.

Blue Ocean Strategy is based on 14 years’ research, the idea is that instead of constantly fighting rivals in a “red ocean” of cost-cutting and imitation, organisations can create a space — the blue ocean — where they set the rules, rendering competition almost irrelevant.

Tom Peters is co-author of In Search of Excellence–the book that changed  the way the world does business, and often tagged as the best business book ever. Sixteen books and almost thirty years later, he’s still at the forefront of the “management guru industry” he single-handedly invented.

Rafael Ramirez is one of the world leading experts on scenario planning and  is the Director of the Oxford Scenarios Programme and Senior Fellow in Strategy at Saїd Business School and Green Templeton College, Oxford University.  He has also been one of the first scholars to develop theories on the aesthetics of business and organisation; theories that help to clarify how scenario planning can be rendered more effective.

It is interesting to note that even though strategy is considered one of the most important aspects of business today, 70% of today’s CEOs are struggling to develop strategic thinkers and 55% of companies are not even focused on strategy. The World Strategy Summit is for tomorrow’s leaders today, with the focus of building strategic competencies for the future.
