Al Habtoor Group Chairman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor welcomes US Senator Rodney Ellis

Dubai – MENA Herald: Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group welcomed Rodney Ellis, US State Senator, District 13 to his office on Sunday December 20, 2015. Senator Ellis, who was elected to the Texas Senate in 1990, was accompanied by his son. Also present was Mohammed Al Habtoor, CEO and Vice Chairman, Al Habtoor Group and Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO, Al Habtoor Motors.

Ellis, who is based in Houston, Texas, has been leader on economic development, education, civil rights, responsible environmental policy, middle class tax cuts, and criminal justice issues, having passed over 600 bills.

Al Habtoor and the Senator discussed the political climate in the US, and the upcoming Presidential election, as well as the potential for investment in the State of Texas.

Last year Al Habtoor purchased his first hotel in the United States, The President Abraham Lincoln Springfield, a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

Al Habtoor said, “It was a pleasure to meet Senator Ellis. I have visited Texas many times and am very fond of it.”

He added, “I am always looking for sound investments abroad. If the right opportunity presents itself, I will consider it.”

Al Habtoor told the Senator about the rapid expansion of the Al Habtoor Group in Dubai. The Group’s growing hospitality portfolio includes Al Habtoor City – a new landmark in Dubai incorporating three Starwood branded hotels; The St. Regis Dubai, which has just opened, as well as the W Dubai – Al Habtoor City and The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City, both due to open in the first quarter of 2016. In addition the Group is building a polo resort in DubaiLand – The Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, which will include a St. Regis at the centerpiece of the equestrian project. Plus the Group is building a new Metropolitan hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Senator Ellis said he was very impressed by what he had seen in Dubai.

The Chairman gave Senator Ellis a copy of his best-selling autobiography, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, The Autobiography.
