Dubai Customs signs cooperation agreement with BUiD, and unleashes innovation

Dubai - MENA Herald: Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs pointed out that the innovation policies and programs adopted at Dubai Customs are based on the national innovation strategy and the strategic development plans. 97% client happiness, 89% supplier happiness, and 90% partner happiness were the fruits of adopting these plans and programs.
During his participation in an event organized by Dubai Customs under the theme “Unleash Innovation” Musabih reaffirmed the Department’s commitment of providing a positive workplace conducive to innovation.
He added:” Our innovations have raised Dubai Customs’ profile as a leading customs administration. We were accredited by the Global Innovation Institute thanks to 11 unprecedented innovations the Department has put forth. Three of them were ranked as “Disruptive”; the highest global ranking in innovation. The Department has bagged more than 62 international, regional and local awards between 2010 and 2016.
The event saw the signing of an agreement between Dubai Customs and the British University in Dubai (BUiD) on research and knowledge sharing.
The agreement was signed by Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs and Abdullah M Alshamsi, Vice Chancellor of the British University in Dubai (BUiD).
Commenting on the signing of this cooperation agreement Musabih pointed out the agreement will open broader horizons to scientific research that will serve the Department’s vision of becoming the leading customs administration in the world supporting legitimate trade. Following the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai of adopting strategic plans and innovative programs, we have recently dedicated 10 hours a month for each department at Dubai Customs to discuss and brainstorm around innovation to come up with new ideas that serves the UAE’s vision of becoming a leading nation worldwide”.
On his part, Professor Abdullah M Alshamsi expressed his happiness for signing this agreement with Dubai Customs and said:” I am hopeful that the agreement will be very beneficial to Dubai Customs and the British University. There are more than 200 scientific researches that Dubai Customs can benefit from, especially in IT, project management and business management".
Hussam Juma, Director, Business Innovation Department at Dubai Customs explained the role his department plays in knowledge management, service automation and setting up innovative service and smart transformation strategies.
At the end of the event Ahmed Mahboob Musabih rewarded 60 employees with certificates for attending and passing the Certified Chief Innovation Officer (CCINO) training course which Dubai Customs organized recently in cooperation with the Global Innovation Institute (GII).
