Dubai Smart Government showcases its latest innovations during UAE Innovation Week

Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) is actively participating in UAE Innovation Week between 22 - 28 November, with a range of events, demonstrations and smart services. This is in response to the call of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to celebrate innovation this week and create a stimulating environment for the next generation.

Earlier, DSG’s dedicated teams held several meetings and brain-stormed on how best to participate and promote its innovative services. These efforts were also aimed for DSG's participation to be an ideal opportunity for launching new ideas and putting forward policies all towards creating a world-class smart government for the 21st century that would meet the needs of its customers and ensure their happiness.

H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director General, said: "Our participation in UAE Innovation Week is the culmination of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's announcement for 2015 to be the year of innovation. We are working in accordance with our 2014-2017 strategy (called SG21) to innovate and design connected government services that focuses on customers and their preferences through smart technologies, infrastructure and to provide open data with the aim of promoting joint innovation and enhancing technological solutions in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum; which empowers us to plan and innovate."

Bin Humaidan stated that DSG would launch a bouquet of its latest smart services and apps that reflect its vision. These include the innovative Dubai Now app, featuring more than 53 smart services provided by 22 government entities; the MyID service for single log-in to Dubai Government's services; and mJobs, a mobile government job app, from DSG’s government resources planning systems, which represents DSG’s strategy of providing a single window for customers with the aim of easing their lives and bringing happiness to them.

Throughout UAE Innovation Week, DSG has planned a series of activities for all segments of society, including testing apps and services for those with special needs or disabilities. In parallel, there are a number of workshops, lectures and iTalks that will all highlight DSG’s strategy and how to take advantage of, analyze and classify big data and usage of government services.

DSG has a special stall at Mirdif City Centre, where it has recreated its Customer Experience (CX) Lab, to get feedback from customers in developing new smart services and apps. It is also the strategic partner and patron of the Smartcon Dubai 2015 conference at Jumeirah Beach Hotel on 23rd and 24th November. During Smartcon, DSG will sign an MoU with Massachusetts Institute of Technology Connection Science Group (MITCSG) to conduct joint academic research on innovation in smart city living. In addition, daily competitions will be held and innovative ideas will be exchanged through interactive communication on DSG’s social networking sites.

DSG is inviting all the segments of society to join the world of artificial intelligence and innovation and to be part of the event with their contribution to designing the services of the government of the future throughout the UAE Innovation Week.
