EUROPEAN COMMISSION & GREEK MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE SUPPORT CAMPAIGN TO PROMOTE FRESH GREEK AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS IN UAE

Dubai - MENA Herald: The Greek Agricultural Association of Messi supported by the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission and the Greek Ministry of Agriculture, are announcing the campaign to promote fresh Greek agricultural products in the UAE.

Themed “HELLO KIWI”, the campaign launch event held in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi shed light on the European Project to promote fresh fruit products in the country with an aim to further increase the export of Greek agricultural products to the UAE. Many investors and businessmen in the fresh products import industry and hypermarket chains in the UAE met with the high-level Greek delegation at the event to discuss potential business opportunities between both parties.

Both Greece and UAE enjoy a remarkable business relation where the trade exchange between both countries reaches over AED 700 million annually.

“HELLO KIWI”, is a European co-financed project for the promotion and information provision on European fresh kiwis in the markets of UAE, Belarus, Ukraine and South Africa, and it was established by the Union Association of Kiwi Producers from Greece that consists of the most important and well known agricultural cooperatives in Greece that produce, sort, package and export fresh fruits all over the world. The program was launched this year and is going to be completed within the next three years.

All of the actions of the current program in the UAE are focused on providing information to the general public and distributors about the high nutritional value of European kiwis produced in Greece. The Project is part of the biggest European campaign for enhancing the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables in Europe and international markets. The program is supported by the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission and the Greek Ministry of Agriculture. In this project, the Head Partner is the Agricultural Association of Messi with Novacert Ltd being responsible for implementing this European Project across the target markets.

The Association operates in modern facilities and their products are collected, packed and forwarded directly to the fresh fruits markets. Inside the packaging units, standardized production procedures are followed in order to fully comply with the E.U. Legislation regarding the Food Safety Regulations and the Vertical - integrated production assures that the products are in perfect condition to the final consumer.

The Association consists of 12 members, agricultural cooperatives that produce mainly stone fruits.
