Huawei participates wins “Best Vendor Innovation” award for 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: As part of its commitment to transfer the latest ICT knowledge to the Middle East region, Huawei participated at the 2016 Telecom Review Summit held in Dubai as the “strategic partner”. The yearly event brought together the leaders of the ICT and telecom industry, in an effort to shed light on the latest innovations in ICT and address the challenges and opportunities in the region.

Charles Yang, President, Huawei Middle East delivered a keynote presentation addressing the future of mobile and highlighting the main three factors to shifting into an intelligent world: increasing connectivity, enabling vertical industries, and digital transformation ecosystem. Mr. Yang’s speech brought insight, knowledge, information, and innovative thinking to the summit and was greatly accepted by the guests.

After the summit, an awards ceremony was held to honor the industry leaders for their efficiency and hard work in 2016. Huawei was recognized for being “Best Vendor Innovation” and the award was received on stage by Lan Yun, President, Carrier Networks Business Group, Huawei Middle East.

Commenting on this Mr. Lan said: “We are honored to receive this acknowledgment for our work in the region. Huawei has proved its commitment to developing the roadmap to 5G through several projects such as participating in EU's METIS Project and as a board member of 5G-PPP. In addition Huawei made large investments by deploying research centers across nine countries, as Huawei anticipates investments of at least US$600 million in the research and innovation of 5G technology between 2013 and 2018.

Huawei also gave its latest insights for building smarter cities by participating in two panel discussions: Sami Tayara, digital transformation architect, Huawei MEA, participated in the panel “ICT infrastructure and big data in a smart city”, and Safder Nazir, regional vice president, smart city and IoT, Huawei Middle East participated in the panel “Smart city impact on city dimension”.

Trace Media Group is the owner and organizer of the event, the group is mostly known for their insightful technology magazines in the Middle East, as most of the leading companies in the region collaborate with Trace Media for magazine coverage and summit participation.

The summit was also attended by leading companies and government entities like: Smart Dubai, Minister of Telecom of Egypt, Accenture, du, Etisalat, Zain Group, neXgen, among others.
